Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

About us

At Make-A-Wish® America, we are more than a great place to work – our work is life-changing. We are an inclusive and diverse group of people who, through a mosaic of backgrounds, thoughts and experiences, are united in purposeful work. We are fueled and guided by our values – values that are represented in the inspired people we work with and the transformational work we do, every day. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Make-A-Wish is the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization, serving children in every community in the U.S. and in 50 countries worldwide. More than 40 years ago the inspiration for Make-A-Wish began with one little boy’s wish to be a police officer. Today, together with our volunteers, donors, staff and supporters, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 500,000 life-changing wishes and transformed countless lives worldwide. There is nothing more powerful than making a child’s wish come true. And at Make-A-Wish, we will stop at nothing to ensure every eligible child received a life-changing wish. We believe – and research shows – that a wish gives kids the resilience, courage and strength they need to fight their critical illnesses. A wish doesn’t signify an end or one happy moment in time … a wish truly has the power to transform lives. This is why wishes matter. This is Make-A-Wish. Mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Granting wishes is what we do. With our official sports partner Fanatics by our side, we are able to make special moments like these happen at the first-ever Fanatics Fest 🤝 Fanatics Fest in an annual event where fans and athletes come together to celebrate their love for sports. Wish kids were able to mingle with their favorite celebrities and enjoy a weekend full of trading cards, one-of-a-kind merch and moments they will treasure for a lifetime.

In honor of WishMaker Johnny Gaudreau ⭐ Johnny was a beloved member of the Make-A-Wish community who granted many wishes and brought so much joy to wish kids. Just last year, Johnny granted Alex's wish to meet him. Alex traveled all the way from Make-A-Wish Canada, New Brunswick, to meet Johnny and we're honored to share this video of their day together and the visible joy that Johnny brought to our community. His family and loved ones are in our thoughts and we are forever grateful to him. Make-A-Wish Canada Columbus Blue Jackets Make-A-Wish America

A huge thanks to Winnebago Industries for helping make wishes come true! 🚐✨ With their support, three incredible outdoor adventures have become unforgettable memories for our wish kids. Kowen, age 6, who is bravely fighting a brain tumor, embarked on an RV trip to Yellowstone National Park in a Minnie Winnie. He loved hiking in nature, spotting wildlife, and sleeping in the cozy top bunk. 🏞️🐻 Dylan, age 12, who has a neuromuscular disorder, explored Colorado's beauty with the help of a Track Wheelchair and a wheelchair-accessible Jeep tour. From Staunton State Park to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Dylan experienced freedom and joy in the great outdoors. 🏔️🚙 Aliza, age 7, who is battling leukemia, gazed at the Milky Way galaxy at Sequoia National Park, creating an inspiring moment under the stars. 🌌✨ Thank you, Winnebago Industries Foundation, for helping us bring these adventures to life. Your support means the world to us and our wish families!

For National Nonprofit Day, we wanted to take a moment and recognize our 58 chapters operating in communities across the U.S. and its territories 💙 These chapters work day in and day out to grant wishes. Through working with local partners, organizing volunteers, or hosting wish families, our chapters are committed to helping us achieve our shared mission – creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Together, we are able to grant wishes every 33 minutes on average. That is something worth celebrating 🤩 Let us know the chapter you volunteer with, support, or work at 🤝

“The Biggest Party of the Summer” is back! The 37th annual WWE SummerSlam returned this past weekend in Cleveland, Ohio, and the WWE 2K24 team joined in on the event with live integrations, photo opps, gaming stations, and fan content on the ground. Manager, Social Media Marketing - Sports, Alexis Polk told us more about how the team stepped into the story: “SummerSlam is one of the biggest WWE events of the year, and presents an opportunity to capitalize on the excitement surrounding the weekend to drum up even more buzz for the game while engaging with our core audience IRL. The weekend began with an activation on Dawg Pound Drive right outside of FirstEnergy Stadium before the event, where we gave out free swag and set up gaming kiosks for fans to check out WWE 2K24. We even hosted an integration giving attendees the chance to be commentators over WWE 2K24 gameplay, complete with a lead-in from WWE personality Cathy Kelley. We also had the honor of bringing our Bianca Belair SummerGlam Contest winner to the event to meet the team, grab some exclusive SummerSlam swag, and enjoy the show with his dad. One of the most memorable parts of SummerSlam was hosting Make-A-Wish America at the WWE 2K booth on Saturday, and creating a special experience for kids to participate in commentary, play the game, and take photos with the iconic WWE 2K Title, along with gifting them some 2K swag and game codes. Definitely a highlight of the weekend!” Check out photos from Alexis’ time in Cleveland below:

National Director, Corporate Partnerships and Development at Make-A-Wish

Today, August 8th, marks what would have been the 52nd birthday of Christopher James Greicius, the inspiration for the founding of Make-A-Wish. In 1980, Chris’s dream of becoming a police officer came true, thanks to a community of compassionate individuals who came together to make his wish a reality. His wish sparked a movement that has since granted more than 580,000 wishes, transforming the lives of countless children and their families. Chris’s legacy is a powerful reminder of the impact that a single act of kindness can have. Each wish granted brings hope, strength, and joy to children facing critical illnesses, creating moments of happiness that resonate far beyond the wish itself. As we remember Chris today, let’s celebrate the incredible work of the thousands of volunteers, staff members, corporate partners, donors, and supporters who make these wishes possible. Together, we continue to honor Chris’s memory by spreading hope and making the impossible possible for children around the world. 🌟 Make-A-Wish America
