Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

About us

For Illinois children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18 who are battling critical illnesses, Make-A-Wish Illinois works together with the community to create life changing wishes. Children can be referred by a medical professional currently treating the child, the child's parents/guardians or the child him- or herself. There is no cost to the family. Through the support of generous donors and volunteers, Make-A-Wish Illinois is able to provide hope, strength and transformation to hundreds of children each year. See stories of hope on the Make-A-Wish Illinois social media channels @wishillinois.

Illinois wish kids Kolton, Alani, Emanual, Fabiola and Riley found renewed hope through their recent wishes, each a unique experience tailored to their requests and personality. These wishes were made possible by the Michael Jordan & Family Endowment Fund. We are so thankful for Michael Jordan's historic donation and the transformative impact it will have for years to come.

This July, over 50 Culver’s locations across Illinois hosted fundraisers in celebration of Culver’s 40th Birthday. These locations raised over $52,000 for Make-A-Wish Illinois this year, more than double last year’s total! For the 2nd straight year, the top fundraising location was the Culver’s of Grayslake, raising $3,792! Thank you to all the participating Culver’s owners, staff and their generous customers for helping us grant wishes throughout Illinois!

National Director, Corporate Partnerships and Development at Make-A-Wish

Today, August 8th, marks what would have been the 52nd birthday of Christopher James Greicius, the inspiration for the founding of Make-A-Wish. In 1980, Chris’s dream of becoming a police officer came true, thanks to a community of compassionate individuals who came together to make his wish a reality. His wish sparked a movement that has since granted more than 580,000 wishes, transforming the lives of countless children and their families. Chris’s legacy is a powerful reminder of the impact that a single act of kindness can have. Each wish granted brings hope, strength, and joy to children facing critical illnesses, creating moments of happiness that resonate far beyond the wish itself. As we remember Chris today, let’s celebrate the incredible work of the thousands of volunteers, staff members, corporate partners, donors, and supporters who make these wishes possible. Together, we continue to honor Chris’s memory by spreading hope and making the impossible possible for children around the world. 🌟 Make-A-Wish America
