🎓 On July 27, 2024, the University of San Diego School of Leadership and Education Sciences hosted our Scholarship Award Ceremony, celebrating 56 outstanding Latinas pursuing higher education with $84,500 in scholarships! 🎉 We are deeply grateful for our partnership with USD SOLES, who graciously hosted us on their beautiful campus for the ceremony and networking reception. Special thanks to Linda Dewes and Melissa Hernandez for their support. The event was truly memorable with heartfelt testimonials from Dra. A special thank you to California Credit Union and North Island Credit Union for their generous donation to the 2025 Scholarship Fund. 🌟 We would also like to thank the Scholarship Co-Chairs and the entire Scholarship Committee for their unwavering dedication and hard work as volunteers. Have you seen the MANA de San Diego, I mean the SDG&E billboard featuring MANASD? I knew it was somewhere in downtown. Today I was leaving UCSD Park & Market and there it was. I had to stop and take a selfie. I'm very proud of the work we do and the strong community partnerships we have developed througout the years in our community. SDG&E not only has invested in our mission for years, but several of their employees are our members and volunteers. The company has recently hired two of our program participants (Hermanitas alumni). These are well-paid jobs with excellent benefits. Exactly what we want for our program participants. The billboard is on 11th & G and it will be up until 8/11. Go stop by herMANAs, get a selfie, and share it with us. We should all feel very proud of what we have achieved in our 38-year history. Thank you SDG&E for your trust, investment -- and the shout-out. Leticia Cervantes

Grateful to announce that I received the MANA de San Diego Scholarship this past Saturday! I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to MANA de San Diego, the scholarship committee, and everyone who made the ceremony possible. Special congratulations to my friend Anneli on also receiving the scholarship! MANA de San Diego is an exceptional organization that empowers Latinas by providing a wealth of resources to navigate higher education. They offer comprehensive support through generous scholarships, insightful workshops, and a diverse array of programs, all dedicated to fostering personal and professional growth. This scholarship will greatly support me in pursuing my goals of attending law school. I would also like to thank Marysol Valdez for her mentorship and unwavering support. This opportunity would not have been possible without her guidance in bringing it to our attention. I am truly excited to be a part of this wonderful community!

Service Coordinator at San Diego Regional Center

In 2002, my sister and I were introduced to MANA de San Diego while attending National City Middle School. Little did we know how profoundly MANA and the Hermanitas program would shape our lives. We became hermanitas and actively participated in the program for two years. Our time in the Hermanitas program significantly influenced our life paths. Although the program wasn’t available to high school and college students back then, we carried with us the tools and knowledge we gained during those two years. As first-generation college students, we relied on this support. After completing high school, both Ana and I received MANA scholarships, which eased our first-year college expenses. Reflecting on our educational journeys, we realized that our involvement with Hermanitas played a pivotal role. Inspired by our experiences, we returned to the program as mentors. I was paired with Esmeralda, a shy 7th grader from my middle school, while Ana mentored Ahitza Gomez. Witnessing the growth and confidence of these young ladies throughout the years was incredibly rewarding. During our time as mentors in Hermanitas, we met an inspirational Latina, Norma Gonzalez Jasso . Her passion and dedication were contagious, motivating us to give back and continue our personal and professional growth. Ana and I both completed the Latina Success Leadership Program and continue to support our hermanitas through the College Success Program. Recently, Ana and I had the honor of attending the MANA de San Diego scholarship ceremony, where four college students received the Ana and Ashley Lopez Scholarship. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of Norma Jasso. We express our heartfelt gratitude to her for making a lasting impact on our lives and the lives of many other young girls. Norma, you are truly loved and appreciated. 🫶🏽
