Working Together for Educational Equity

About us

We envision a future in which every child in Marin can reach their full educational potential to become the outstanding leaders, caring neighbors, and successful professionals they want to be. To get there, we have made a commitment to redesign our educational ecosystem so that race, ethnicity and poverty no longer determine opportunity or outcome. Unfortunately, 25,000 young people from infants to college graduates (more than 45% of all youth in Marin) are impacted by a system that was not designed with equity in mind. Because of this, about 60% of them are not yet meeting key Milestone outcomes. This is unacceptable and is why over 100 youth and family leaders, community organizations, funders, and public agencies - have come together as an integrated, Cradle-to-Career network to advance educational equity across Marin. Together, we are working to improve outcomes for all students while accelerating success for those most impacted by historical biases and structural racism. Racial Equity Statement: Racial equity for students in Marin will be achieved when race and ethnicity no longer predict the outcome of a young person's educational future. As a Marin Promise Partner, our organization commits to identify and dismantle racial inequities, and provide equity-based supports, so that our most vulnerable children can achieve their full potential.

Today we are thrilled to share that we are welcoming Richard Raya to Marin Promise Partnership as our Chief Executive Officer. In this role, Richard will work closely with the Leadership Team to align around a common vision of an equitable education system, and will lead the backbone staff in supporting partners' system-change work. When the Partnership began searching for its new CEO, we were looking for a next-generation leader who would bring deep collaboration and systems-change expertise. Most importantly, though, was finding a leader who not only shares the same passion for achieving educational equity, but one who champions it. Richard is that leader. He is passionate about bringing the community voice to the table and has a collaborative approach to doing the work so we can continue to see positive impact in the education of all our children. Welcome to the Partnership, Richard! Read more about it in our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/gcWbMKYF

  • Last week, our Founder, Ann Mathieson, and incoming CEO, Richard Raya, attended the California Cradle-to-Career Retreat. Marin Promise Partnership is part of the California Cradle to Career Coalition. We work together to support children from before birth through high school, advocating for policies that help all kids succeed, regardless of their background or identity. Members of the coalition met in Pasadena to plan how to improve state policies using data and community feedback. They focused on a bill called "It Takes A Village," which aims to fund partnerships like ours to create lasting changes and more opportunities in our communities. • Big shoutout to our partner, Parent Services Project (PSP), for their amazing work in fostering early literacy with children and families! Early literacy is a key milestone in a student’s academic journey. Through their Raising a Reader Program, PSP is helping kids develop the literacy skills needed for future success. Their early literacy services support over 1,700 children and families. Thank you, Parent Services Project, for advancing the Partnership's Early Literacy goals.
