We are so thankful for the support our community shows Marlborough Hospital. Recently, we had a visit from a member of the Marlborough Junior Woman's Club. Gigi brought by a large donation of clothes that will help fill our Community Closet. This closet holds a large variety of clothing that has been donated for our patients that may need a fresh change of clothes. We are proud of having this extra opportunity to take care of our patients and are appreciate our community partners for thinking of us. On this #featuredfriday we would like to highlight Dr. Stein, a UMass Memorial Medical Group anesthesiologist that works at Marlborough Hospital in the Endoscopy department. This physician not only takes great care of our patients but has a hidden talent for time. Dr. Stein is a very proud “clock repairman” and collector. He has endeavored to painstakingly bring back to life a Simon Willard grandfather clock which was donated to Marlborough Hospital and is located in the Leahy Conference Room. This treasured clock is nearly 250 years old! A little birdie told us that two of our caregivers deserve special recognition! We'd like to give a huge shout-out to Marissa and Jackie in our Medworks (Employee Health) Department for caring not only for our patients but our visitors as well. When leaving one day, Jackie and Marissa found two visitors that had fallen out of a nest in the back parking lot. They quickly put their innovative skills into action and cut out a little glove box for the baby birds to be transported. They reached out to a animal rehabilitation center in Framingham who happily took them in later that night. Marissa's daughter gave them water at home while they waited to be transported and made it very clear she is a future caregiver! The baby birds are now at the rehabilitation center and thriving! They will be released into their bird enclosure to grow with the other rescued birds. We would like to highlight TWO of the great activities that are offered to the community at Safe Summer Fun Day! • FREE HELMET FITTING: One of the event's signature activities is the bike helmet fitting tent where trained caregivers properly fit and give away children's bicycle helmets. These helmets are free to all children who are present and are fitted for their helmet. • OBSTACLE COURSE: We are excited to welcome a NEW obstacle course to Safe Summer Fun Day this year. ONLY 3 DAYS UNTIL SAFE SUMMER FUN DAY! We'd like to give a shout-out to THREE of our community partners that will be participating in our great community event.
