The event focused on the importance of public involvement in transportation projects, with speakers including Highway District Administrator Jonathan Gulliver, Kevin Robenhymer, Jonathan Church, Thomas Emerick, and Kirsten Johnson. The day also featured a video presentation on Leominster Flooding and information on Careers at MassDOT. A great partnership with MassDOT and Girls Inc.! MassDOT Aeronautics recently met with a class of thirty 7th graders from Girls Inc. of Boston and #Lynn to introduce them to the world of drone technology, demonstrating how small, unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) are transforming transportation inspections. #Spotlight moment Robert Antico, Supervising Project Manager/Team Leader at MassDOT I joined MassDOT in 2009 as a Project Manager for the Accelerated Bridge Program. I've been with the group through its evolution from ABP, Bridge Project Management and currently Major Projects. I'm a Supervising Project Manager/Team Leader. I manage bridge projects throughout the state starting with design scoping and ending with procurement. This entails coordination between design consultants, public outreach and the multitude of engineering disciplines within the department. My objective is to ensure that the project goals are met on time and within budget. I've been lucky enough to work under a great management team that has mentored me during my MassDOT career. They've inspired me to pass along the knowledge I've gained from working with them to our newer team members. While every one of my projects has been meaningful, the projects that get the least amount of attention are the ones I'm most proud of because that's an indicator of success. The secret to managing a project is getting the right parties together to agree on a common goal and I feel I've been able to do that at MassDOT. As a MassDOT employee we have an important obligation to improving the transportation system and making it the best it can be for all of its users. #Projectmanager #Transportation #MassDOT #Leader

District 1 Interns traveled to the #Pittsfield Roundabout worksite, to learn about the scope of work ahead in this significant build in the Pittsfield community. This project is a significant intersection upgrade in the largest city of District One, closely linked to Berkshire Medical Center. The day helped the team discover the vastness of the project and to understand the work involved in every build to construct a robust infrastructure while prioritizing the needs of the people and achieving positive outcomes in our communities.
