Our new partnership with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, is creating unique opportunities for Hardy Williams High School students to receive hands-on health care training. Starting in September 2025, the initiative will prepare students to fill in-demand health care jobs directly after graduation. Rising ninth-grade summer bridge program students from Hardy Williams High recently visited CHOP’s Philadelphia hospital and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute to learn more about the organization’s mission to improve health care for children. Through demonstrations of biomedical tools, learning about careers in research, engineering, language services, and clinical patient-facing care, and tours of labs, our students had a wonderful experience that ignited their interests in STEM and future career opportunities at CHOP. This week, we were thrilled to host over 50 new leaders for intensive training, where they took a deep dive into our mission, vision, and values, affirming their commitment to each. Together, they identified the most critical work needed to meet goals and collaborated on key strategies to help improve positive student outcomes. It was a powerful week of strategizing and collaborating at Mastery High School of Camden, where leaders from the central office and all 23 campuses gathered to prepare for a fantastic 2024-2025 school year. During the week-long training, leaders celebrated the academic gains and positive student outcomes achieved during the 2023-2024 school year while acknowledging there is more work to be done. The week-long training gave leaders time to continue building solid foundations for their teams, setting strategic goals for student academic growth, outlining support for teachers, and aligning with the new initiatives as part of our five-year strategic plan.
