Exciting news from our portfolio company, GALY. We're thrilled to share that the company has raised $33 million in an oversubscribed Series B financing round led. This marks a significant milestone in advancing their first-of-its-kind sustainable cellular agriculture products. GALY uses 99% less water and 97% less land than traditional cotton while emitting 77% less CO2. “Climate change exposes the fragility of agricultural supply chains, and the recent rise in cocoa prices is a stark reminder of the new normal we face. Unfortunately, it's not a matter of 'if,' but 'when.' Soon, the world will face increased volatility in conventional agriculture as extreme weather conditions become more frequent. When that time comes, GALY will be ready, better equipping our economy to withstand these shocks." -- CEO and Founder Luciano Bueno At Material Impact, we believe in backing bold ideas that have the power to reshape industries and create a more sustainable future. GALY's pioneering approach to producing materials without relying on traditional agriculture is a perfect example of this vision in action. We're proud to support their journey as they continue to break new ground. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gWeeS-xM

Sunlight, air, and fresh ocean breezes 🌊 That’s all that’s required to create pure water in beautiful Malibu, CA with Hydropanel® technology! In this clip, Elise discusses a Hydropanel install–which requires nothing to operate aside from the California sunshine and air. It’s a solution that’s free of solvents, microplastics, or any of the unwanted stuff in your water. SOURCE also helps reduce the need for plastic waste from bottles, which as we know, too frequently end up polluting our oceans. All you’re left with is some great engineering and refreshing, crystal-pure drinking water! #Hydropanel #solartechnology #cleanwater #california #drinkingwater

Congratulations to Cody Friesen, Founder and CEO of SOURCE Global, on your 100th patent! We're proud to have SOURCE as part of our portfolio.
SOURCE® Founder and CEO Cody Friesen knew he wanted to be an inventor since he was a little kid. Last week, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted his 100th patent! 🎉 This exciting milestone is the culmination of over two decades of Cody's collaborative work to help solve the world's biggest problems through intellectual curiosity and scientific ingenuity. From his days at MIT to his 20 years as a faculty member at Arizona State University, Cody's spent the bulk of his career working with others to bring forward advancements in things like electrochemical ammonia synthesis, dendrite capture, air batteries, and of course, solar water capture. In Cody's words: 💬 "At an average of 5 granted US patents per year over 20 years (with more in the pipeline!), the productivity of our team has been just remarkable. I’m so proud of the problems we’ve tackled, and the ultra-translational nature of the work. The degree to which we’ve gone beaker-to-field, lab-to-product, discovery-to-innovation-to-solution is the aspect of my career that I just absolutely adore. And I hope it inspires others." At SOURCE, we're changing the state of water by leveraging forward-thinking, cutting-edge technology to meet a basic need and help stimulate well-being on a global scale. This is due to the brilliance of Cody and his many collaborators, who continually think outside the box and help take our collective understanding of science to the next level. This hundredth patent is just the latest milestone in a productive journey to leverage the beauty of thermodynamics, curiosity, and inventorship. Congratulations, Cody. Here's to many more years of problem solving! 🥂
