Congratulations to Nicole Schanel on her recent promotion from Deputy Director of Civil in Colorado Springs to Vice President and Director at Matrix Design Group, Inc. Since joining the company in 2016, Nicole has played an integral role in our Colorado Springs office and across Matrix. Her journey from Project Engineer to Project Manager has led her to now lead a team of over 20 professionals and oversee a program that spans three states. In addition, Nicole heads Matrix University, our online professional development platform, and has been pivotal in enhancing our Enterprise Resource Planning tool. Nicole is a board member for the Housing & Building Association of Colorado Springs (HBA) Cares and Vice Chair of the Utilities Committee. She also oversees one of Matrix’s largest national clients, Circle K, with projects throughout the southwest. The Colorado Community College System at Lowry Campus in Aurora, CO, collaborated with Matrix Design Group, Inc. to optimize space utilization across several campus buildings. Matrix’s multi-faceted approach was thorough, involving data analysis, stakeholder interviews, a visioning workshop, and the development of a new space policy. The College was provided a detailed report featuring data analysis, conceptual floor plans, and 3D modeling—resulting in a tailored strategic plan designed to enhance the efficiency of Lowry Campus’s facilities. Congratulations to Jason Alwine, PLA, Director of Landscape Architecture, on his recent promotion to Vice President! Since joining Matrix Design Group, Inc. in 2019, Jason has made significant strides, including his promotion to Director earlier this year. He has expanded his role from managing landscape architecture and entitlement services in Colorado Springs to overseeing Denver and driving growth in the Arizona market. With over 22 years of experience in land planning and landscape architecture, Jason has significantly advanced Matrix’s portfolio over the past two years, securing key long-standing clients. Jason's expertise in jurisdictional requirements has also made him a subject matter expert and an invaluable resource for developers navigating complex applications throughout El Paso County, CO. Matrix Design Group, Inc. values our long-standing partnership with the Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV) in Okaloosa County, Florida. As a not-for-profit retirement community, AFEV provides a patriotic lifestyle for over 600 veterans and surviving spouses. Recently, Matrix facilitated AFEV’s expansion by assisting them with the acquisition of 80-acres from Eglin Air Force Base, with the proceeds being reinvested by Eglin into the community. This expansion will focus on providing additional housing for wounded warriors and their spouses. Over the past 8 years, Matrix has completed 10 projects as an owner's agent to the #AirForce providing services including concept planning, economic analysis, consulting, and on-call partner support for development-related matters.
