We inspire, develop and drive leaders to solve the most critical challenges of our time. Founded in 1985 by John and Anne Welsh McNulty, our Foundation's values are informed by both families’ experiences as Irish immigrants welcomed by America and grounded in our belief in the value of education and the importance of opportunity. We believe in a few fundamental human desires: to live meaningful lives, to build better ones for our children, to have a stake in our futures and communities. We recognize the central role individual leadership plays in effecting change and enabling people to take control of their future and reach their potential. Our programs support individuals at different stages of their leadership journey, from elevating examples of high-impact leaders through the John P. McNulty Prize, and incubating leadership in students and individuals with great potential through our academic partnerships.

Congratulations to #McNultyCatalystFund awardee Kaya Henderson, who is now leading the Center for Rising Generations at The Aspen Institute. This initiative is sure to be a catalyst for youth development under Kaya’s leadership, and we can’t wait to see what comes!
“We want to be a place that supports innovation in youth work,” said Kaya Henderson, former District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) chancellor, in conversation with the Washington Business Journal about the historic launch of the Center for Rising Generations at the Aspen Institute under her visionary leadership. Thanks to the unprecedented donation of $185.7 million from the Bezos Family Foundation, the Institute is taking a significant step forward in youth development. By optimizing existing youth-focused programs at the Institute and creating new partnerships, this initiative will deepen our focus on equipping young people with the tools they need to lead, engage, and drive positive change in their communities and beyond. Last week, famine was declared in North Darfur, Sudan. This is the first time in 7 years that the UN has declared a famine, which means millions of people are literally starving to death, and more will too without immediate action. Edesia's life-saving products like Plumpy'Nut are critical in a humanitarian crisis like this one. We shipped 18,000 boxes of Plumpy'Nut to children in North Darfur but getting it to people who need it has been treacherous and sometimes impossible for aid workers. That is why making it easier for aid workers to get to communities in need is so important. If they can deliver these miracle packets, we can save lives. Join us in calling for safe and free access to Sudan for aid workers so we can reach children and families in need. The time for action is now!
