Glad to see our newest Mead & Hunt-ers doing great work with the Virginia Outdoor Foundation (VOF)!

Dovetail/Mead & Hunt are thrilled to be partnering with the Virginia Outdoor Foundation (VOF) on architectural studies in Prince William County, Virginia! Staff recently had the opportunity to explore an incredible house with many secrets on the Preserve at Bull Run Mountain. As part of their preservation and interpretive plans, the VOF brought on the team to do a thorough architectural analysis of this hidden gem. Together with dendrochronology done by Michael Worthington, we are hoping to be able to tell the tale of this wonderful historic building and be part of its next chapter. Thanks to the VOF for letting us come play and explore! #DovetailCulturalResourceGroup #meadandhunt #archaeology #preservation #understandinghistory #architecture #virginiaoutdoorfoundation #princewilliamcounty #dendrochronology

As we close out Pride Month, meet Yu-Ling Wang Transportation Senior Analyst in Washington, D.C.! Yu-Ling is Asian American, non-binary, and bisexual/pansexual. Yu-Ling emphasizes the significance of intersectionality in understanding others beyond a one-dimensional viewpoint. “Acknowledging and accepting differences helps everyone grow. I think that's what makes collaboration really great, especially in a workplace environment. And I think if people feel like they can be accepted and seen and acknowledged in your workplace, they're going to be more open about sharing their ideas and reaching out and helping others as well.” Yu-Ling celebrated the inclusion in the movie "Everything Everywhere All at Once," which features a Chinese American lesbian character. The character also resonated with other members of the LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group who finally saw their own experiences reflected on the big screen. Yu-Ling said, "I thought that was really beautiful to get that little glimpse of the intersection between being Asian-American and LGBTQ in America

As we continue our celebration of Pride Month, meet Michael Moore (he/him), an interior designer in our San Diego, California office! He hopes that intersectionality will become a larger focus in the LGBTQIA+ community to help address issues by adopting an inclusive perspective. As an interior designer, Michael recognizes the importance of using design to include all aspects of what a community has to offer. He was able to carry his knowledge of intersectionality into his work on the Durango-La Plata County Airport, collaborating with the Southern Ute tribe to create dedicated display cases showcasing Native American history. Michael celebrates his coworkers and creates an inclusive space in the workplace by recognizing how everyone's unique experiences shape their perspectives and giving everyone the space to express themselves. He says, "I think intersectionality overall helps us create safer spaces, helps people to perform their best within the workplace, and also helps them be happiest in their lives too. That goes hand in hand with our projects and the outcome of our work."
