They convened with federal representatives to share cancer priorities and align the CancerX mission, goals, and vision for #digitalinnovation for the year ahead. Yesterday’s 2024 Centene Corporation Enterprise Procurement Supplier Summit: Partnership with Purpose was so valuable for the MedHaul team! After launching with our 1st Centene plan in Oklahoma earlier this year, the support from the organization and the Oklahoma Complete Health plan have been unmatched. This summit provided us with great insights on how continue to be an effective partner with Centene and an advocate for its members. As we approach the conclusion of National Minority Health Month, it is vital to reflect on the persistent challenges and progress in tackling transportation insecurities that significantly impact health outcomes for minorities. At MedHaul, our dedication to this cause reminds us daily of the direct connection between transportation and health equity. Transportation insecurities hinder access to essential healthcare services, affecting everything from routine medical appointments to emergency responses and long-term treatment adherence. They also play a significant role in nutritional health, as many individuals in underserved communities find it difficult to access grocery stores that offer healthy food options. Moreover, the stress and isolation caused by inadequate transportation options can exacerbate mental health conditions, creating a cycle of health and social disadvantages. Transportation Insecurity & Health Outcomes: New Research Alert! A recent study by Dr. Nneka Ufere, MD reveals a critical issue for adults with chronic liver disease. Those facing transportation barriers had a shocking 2x higher risk of mortality. Key Insights: ↗️ Higher Mortality Risk: Adults with chronic liver disease experiencing transportation insecurity had a 2x higher mortality risk. ↗️ Widespread Problem: 6% of adults with chronic liver disease in the US face healthcare-related transportation issues. ↗️ Impact on Health: Transportation insecurity led to poorer health, reduced outpatient care access, and increased acute healthcare use. This research calls for scalable solutions and policy changes.
