Today, I'm taking a moment to re-introduce you all to Harlow and our mission. Harlow helps freelancers find new clients and grow thriving businesses. We do that through 3 core offerings: 1. A job board that is updated daily and has thousands of open gigs. 2. A newsletter sent weekly that pulls out top opportunities for freelancers from the job board, plus timely resources and advice to support you as you grow and evolve. 3. An all-in-one tool to help freelancers manage their businesses (invoicing, proposals, project management, time tracking & more). If you're a freelancer or consultant, and you're like, "Yes, I need that!", dive deeper here: Job board: https://lnkd.in/gAUxSQzc Newsletter: https://lnkd.in/gzjt4Fb9 All-in-one tool: https://lnkd.in/gKh6SD3M Any questions? In January, I aligned my intentions and goals in 4 different categories: Personal wellness, relationships, fun, and money. Today, I'm sharing my check-in on one of the most vulnerable: money. I share this today not to brag or say, "Look at me." I share this in hopes that we all get more comfortable manifesting the success we want, discussing it openly, and sharing proudly. Especially women. So, here's my vulnerable share on my money (and business) goals YTD: My original guiding phrase: I will build wealth and businesses that support my lifestyle and allow me to be generous to others. Goals: 1. Hit annual revenue goal from all income streams. 2. Make one big investment (real estate or tech). 3. Grow my personal and Harlow online community (grow to 50k+ followers and 10k+ newsletter subscribers). 4. Partner with 8-10 consulting clients who align with my work values. 5. Donate at least $10k to charities (cancer, supporting children/youth). Half-Year Update: 1. As of July 1, I was 43% to my income goal for 2024. Not bad! We also ramped up our consulting business at the beginning of the summer, so I have complete faith that I'll hit or exceed this goal. 2. It feels wild returning to this one. Surprise! I just bought a house. Significant investment — check. I've also invested in the QwikFix, a marketplace connecting real estate agents to contractors during the home inspection process. I guess I'm deep in real estate and real estate tech investments this year! 3. Right now, we have ~30k followers across all of Harlow's social accounts, although it feels like cheating to count the platforms we don't use. And we just hit 4.3k newsletter subscribers. Newsletter subscribers are growing quickly at ~700 subs/mo, but even at the current pace, we're on track to miss both of these goals. I just added "ideate on growing social and newsletter subs FASTER" to my list for next week. 4. I've worked with three clients this year, but we've raised our rates, so it evens out! I have a feeling I'll end up working with ~6-7 by EOY. And, good news — *most* client work has felt aligned, and like I'm collaborating with people who respect my expertise. 5. I'm at ~$7k in donations to charity YTD, which feels good. This money has gone to charities that work to improve children's lives, which is typically my main donation priority. I'm sure I'll find some other events to sponsor or participate in as the year rounds out. Honestly, I'm behind pace on a couple of these goals. But things have been shifting lately. Our clients have gotten bigger, our revenue has ramped up, and we're building serious momentum with our newsletter and the Harlow community. I'm eager to see where I land by year-end. Tell me. How do you feel about sharing money and business goals openly? PS: See comments for links to the my full half-yearly check-in. 🤗

I spent 12 of the last 16 days mostly off of work. I had a: European getaway Friend's baby shower out of town Closing on a house And guess what? My businesses kept moving and growing. How? 1. I worked slightly longer days in advance to get ahead. 2. I dedicated ~20-30 minutes/day to remain responsive, push things forward, and keep social momentum going. 3. I drafted newsletters, social posts, and other scripts in advance. 4. I delegated some big-ticket items to subcontractors. 5. I have an amazing business partner who understands the value of time off and stepped in to help. Now I'm back, ready to buckle down and get shiz done. And I'm *actually* excited to be back in front of my computer and building. TLDR: Plan ahead. Take time off. Find your trusted community.
