About us

Healing is our purpose. Help is our promise. Health is our passion. Mental Health Partners (MHP), a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, was founded in 1962 as the Mental Health Center of Boulder County and opened at the county general hospital on North Broadway in Boulder. The clinic, which was formed thanks to the collective efforts of a group of dedicated citizens, provided services for adult and child clients, as well as an after-care program for clients discharged from mental hospitals. Over the past 60 years, MHP has continued to keep pace with growth and demand. It is considered a leader and innovator in mental health, and it is the only organization providing comprehensive mental health services to residents of Boulder and Broomfield counties regardless of their ability to pay. Today, the organization serves over 21,000 individuals each year and responds to nearly 13,000 calls to emergency psychiatric services annually. MHP employs over 400 dedicated administrative and mental health professionals—including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and peer support specialists. Our team of licensed therapists and support team members are experts in their fields, bringing a wide array of knowledge and diversity to the individuals they serve. MHP runs 20+ distinct programs from 9 service locations across Boulder and Broomfield counties, and engages more than 100 community partners including schools, healthcare clinics, nonprofits, local agencies, and businesses. In 2022, MHP announced a partnership with Clinica to open a facility in Nederland. MHP has specialized programs for varying client needs. Mental health is a journey and can require different methods to heal. Our Anxiety Services team helps adults and teens who experience worry, panic and distress that interfere with their life or relationships. For instance, we have a 7-week Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults that consists of 7-9 hours of individual and group therapy per week (both virtual and in-person options available), as well as prescriber services and coaching. Our next cohort begins on August 6th! Ask your MHP care team if this program is right for you or a loved one. In Latine and Hispanic communities, mental health is often a stigmatized topic. This stigma and the challenges that come with immigration, adapting to U.S. culture, and generational trauma may make it harder for someone to maintain their mental well-being. As part of our celebration of Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month this July, we’ve added new resources for BIPOC communities to our website. What is "whole-person care"? It is healthcare that considers the many different factors that impact one’s health and wellness. For example, your physical, mental, and dental health all play a vital role in your overall quality of life. As we move closer to merging with Clinica Family Health (our longtime community health partner), we are thrilled to meet our clients where they are by offering them better access to physical and dental health services. Whole-person care matters because it recognizes that our health is multi-dimensional, just like our community. #WholePersonCare #Health #Wellness
