Last evening, Mercer Health held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet at Romer’s Catering in St. Henry. The banquet is held each year to celebrate the accomplishments of the members of the Volunteer Association of Mercer Health. Mercer Health and Community Sports & Therapy Center are collaborating to offer a Healthy Waves Challenge to motivate and encourage the community to be more physically active this summer. The FREE challenge requires participants to complete 1,020 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic activity from August 8 through September 19, 2024. Mercer Health Medical Student Scholarship applications available! Applications for the 2024 Mercer Health Medical Student Scholarship are now being accepted until October 1, 2024. The Mercer Health Medical Staff Scholarship Committee will award $2,000 to a medical school student who has shown a strong connection to Mercer Health or the surrounding communities. For additional details and application information, visit https://lnkd.in/gJcCi_GY The Medical Staff of Mercer Health initiated a scholarship program in 2020 to support medical students from Mercer County and surrounding counties, as well as medical students who have participated in rotations at Mercer Health, by offering scholarships to those individuals.

Our Childbirth Center would like to extend a thank you to Maleah Lee. Maleah competes in the Miss America Organization, which is a pageant program that gives out scholarship dollars for women to pursue their education. She has competed since she was thirteen years old and her platform is all about literacy and education and making sure it is implemented early in a child's life. Through her platform, she was able to start a non-profit, "A Bundle of Books for Your Bundle of Joy". This program donates a bundle of books to newborn parents in hospitals to make sure that reading is being implemented early in life. Thank you Maleah!

While temperatures soar during the summer, so does the need for blood donations. The summertime can also lead to fewer people donating. The supply can't always meet demand because only about 3% of eligible donors give blood.
