Foster and Adoptive parents are everyday heroes who create second chances and bright futures for children in need. At MCHS Family of Services, we want to celebrate all our parents and share a recent story that we hope will inspire you to take action. Two brothers, Owen and Michael, entered foster care at a very young age due to their parents’ struggles with substance abuse, untreated mental health issues, and domestic violence. After nearly 2,000 days in foster care, Owen and Michael have both been adopted into the same loving family! Despite their challenging upbringing, they will grow up together in a supportive, loving home. Thank you to all our supportive parents who save the “Owens” and “Michaels” in our communities. If you are interested in fostering or adopting with MCHS Family of Services, visit mchsmi.org/foster-care or reach out to [email protected] for more information on how to start your journey today! #fostercare #adoption #thisisfamily

Did you know? In 1994, Congress established the fourth Sunday of July as National Parents' Day. Today, we celebrate all the incredible parents – biological, adoptive, foster, step, single, married, and more. At MCHS Family of Services, we believe in the power of parents to build strong, stable families. Join us in celebrating these amazing individuals who make our community a better place, one child at a time. And hey, why not take a moment to thank your parental figure today! #NationalParentsDay #thepowerofcommunity #ittakesavillage #thisisfamily

What is better than spending a nice summer day in Ann Arbor, Michigan? The answer is spending THREE summer days in Ann Arbor with friendly Wolverines! Special thanks to Sunny at the University of Michigan Student Group for hosting the boys from our Residential Treatment program for an amazing 3-day summer camp on the U of M campus! This will be a memory our boys will never forget. They had a blast with outdoor games, a hike to the Huron River, and wading in the Argo Cascades. The weekend ended perfectly with a zoo visit and a pizza lunch. We are deeply grateful for community partners like Sunny, who continue to invest in our youth. Go Blue! #communitypartners #volunteerism #residentialtreatment #thepowerofcommunity

July is National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month (also known as BIPOC Mental Health Month.) Did you know that racial and ethnic minorities are less likely to have access to mental services and more likely to receive lower quality care? The statistical disparities highlight the urgent need for increased awareness and resources. At MCHS, we’re working to break the stigma and promote equity in mental health care for all communities. Please visit mchsmi.org/mfp-mss/ and https://lnkd.in/dDPf6eMB to learn more about the mental health care we provide to those we serve across our Family of Services. #MinorityMentalHealthAwarenessMonth #BIPOCMentalHealthMonth #MentalHealthEquity #EqualAccessToCare
