A huge thank you to our alumni for helping in our overdose awareness event at the Palm Springs Villagefest, where they distributed NARCAN to attendees. Villagefest attendees received important information on recognizing the signs of an overdose and instructions on how to administer NARCAN. According to the Riverside County Overdose Data from 2022 and 2023, it shows that more than 1,000 residents died from an overdose. NARCAN rapidly reverses the effects of opioid overdose and saves lives. If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out for help. We are excited to announce the promotion of Amanda G, LVN, to Charge Nurse. Amanda has been with us for over two years, delivering a high quality of patient care. Amanda is always calm and on point; she works hand in hand with co-workers to ensure that residents receive excellent care, and she has taken on the role of scheduler and trainer/mentor to nursing staff. The Michael’s House team will tell you that the best role that she has taken on is “Grinch” for Christmas! Please join us in congratulating Amanda on this well-deserved promotion. #MovingOnUp

“When anxious, uneasy and bad thoughts come, I go to the sea, and the sea drowns them out with its great wide sounds, cleanses me with its noise, and imposes a rhythm upon everything in me that is bewildered and confused.” ― Rainer Maria Rilke Our residents had fun this past weekend decorating cakes inspired by the world “under the sea!”

Overcoming addiction is no easy task. Facing life’s problems and figuring out how to get through life after being addicted to a substance takes a lot of hard work. Being an addict in recovery takes a lot of strength. We applaud Jerry for his courage, honesty, and willingness to put in a lot of hard work to maintain sobriety and create a better life for himself. And it means the world to us that we were privileged to be a part of his recovery journey.
