Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, or Emancipation Day, a holiday that carries deep historical significance, representing the resilience and determination of the Black community in the United States. Let us honor this day by reflecting on our history and continuing to work towards a future of equality and justice for all.

Last week our ESL students and their teachers went to the Goodman Theatre to see the play “English”, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2023. MCC students from Advanced, Post Advanced, and High Intermediate classes appreciated this amazing and emotional play, which reflects real struggles in an ESL classroom. Our students felt connected with the topic because they could see themselves in the story.
