We are live! After our three-year collaboration with LabCuidades, Mota-Engil México, and the government of Mexico City we are happy to share our new website, which showcases some of the work from faculty, students, and staff from MIT Department of Architecture, MIT School of Architecture and Planning (MIT SAP), MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning, MITdesignX, and the LCAU. Framed on three pillars: research, innovation, and civic debate, our work includes studios, research projects, exhibitions, ideathons, and accelerators that have explored the city's future in fields such as decarbonization, energy transition, and industrial urbanism. The website will be a live archive of past, current, and future(!!!) work in Mexico City. Join us at cdmx.mit.edu to think about the future of the city!

Thank you to everyone who attended the closing for Unboxed City last Friday. During the event, we asked people to write their thoughts on how artificial and human intelligence should work together. Take a look at all of these great ideas from our attendees. The physical structure of the Unboxed City exhibition is the end result of a collaboration between LCAU and OverUnder. Together, we set out to build a black box, not only as a play on the proverbial black box of AI, but also as a standout structure within the Media Lab that instantly captures the visitor’s attention. This time-lapse represents the physical construction process of the 16'x16' cube, made of wood, in the exterior, and panels of black acrylic, in the interior. Join us in the East Lobby of the Media Lab any day until May 3rd to experience being inside the black box. #unboxedcity #ai #genai #urbanism Sarah Williams MIT School of Architecture and Planning (MIT SAP) MIT Department of Architecture MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning
