Shout out to our colleagues Sally Difani Michelle Luraschi and Lakeisha Mathews, Ed.D who joined MOCAN’s Cherelle Washington, M.Ed. at the rootEd Alliance Missouri Conference this week! Dr. Mathews shared a framework for career advising of non-degree path students, and Sally and Michelle have created practical resources and tools for career advising and career mapping. MOCAN is honored to partner with rootEd in its efforts to support rural students! We’ll be sharing more at PDI workshops this year!

Having not found yet a long-term solution for retrieving financial information from the IRS for contributors without a SSN, FSA indicated that for the “foreseeable future,” contributors will continue to be able to manually enter their data into the #FAFSA. https://lnkd.in/eXJ6ZWF9

📣📣📣ED just released important new information urging and supporting colleges & universities as they strategically deploy FAFSA data to connect students with means tested public benefits. In other words— help students get ALL the $$ they possibly can to afford college. Please share this with your #financialaid administrators, student affairs and #basicneeds teams, and lawyers— and urge them to make use of data already in their posession to help students. YES YOU CAN: ✅ Use FAFSA data to inform students about their potential eligibility for SNAP and many other programs ✅ Have staff outside the financial aid office use FAFSA data in order to do this work ✅ Disclose FAFSA data to local and state agencies to help with this outreach Please spread the word and end the widespread fear keeping staff from doing this essential work. The GAO recently estimated that 57% of food insecure students potentially eligible for SNAP aren’t getting that help. That’s outrageous and a problem we can solve together. #SNAP #FAFSA #RealCollege
