Since entering the cannabis industry, moisture testing and the "ideal moisture" content for cannabis flower has been a major pain point for our laboratory. Coming from an environmental background, we understood the impact that utilizing loss on drying at a high temperature (103C) could have on the accuracy of the moisture values obtained when a product has high concentrations of volatile and semi-volatile compounds. However, persuading the industry that this method is skewing moisture values has not been an easy task. I am very excited to be presenting our completed moisture study at multiple conferences in hopes that we will be able to gain further traction for recommending a more accurate method that helps ensure the loss of terpenes and decarboxylation of cannabinoids is minimized.

The Florida Supreme Court approved a recreational marijuana constitutional amendment for the November 2024 statewide ballot. The proposal, known as Amendment 3, will legalize the “non-medical personal use of marijuana products and marijuana accessories by an adult” 21 or older if approved by 60% or more of statewide voters. Five judges ruled favorably on the measure while two opposed. #YesOn3
