Every July, we commemorate the lasting impact of author, advocate, and pioneer Bebe Moore Campbell during Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. Moore Campbell's powerful storytelling, focusing on themes of racism, mental health, and family, has profoundly influenced efforts supporting the mental health of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC). BIPOC individuals often encounter intersecting forms of discrimination, marginalization, and socio-economic disparities, which can contribute to increased stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health issues. Addressing BIPOC mental health involves recognizing and dismantling systemic barriers, promoting culturally competent care and support services, fostering community resilience and empowerment, and advocating for policies that promote equity and social justice. June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness about the challenges that men navigate while struggling with their mental health. There are many misconceptions about eating disorders affecting men. The reality is that men also face eating disorders, societal standards, and harmful norms and are also worthy and deserving of help. This month encourages open conversations and support for men’s emotional well-being, aiming to break stigmas and increase understanding that everyone’s struggles are valid and deserving of compassion. #mensmentalhealthawarenessmonth #healingtogether #eatingdisorderrecovery #edrecovery #recoveryispossible #prorecovery #eatingdisorderawareness #eatingdisordersupport #edfighter #recoverysupport

As we reflect on the significance of Juneteenth, it is essential to recognize the impact of systemic racism on mental health. Historical and ongoing injustices have profound effects on the mental well-being of Black individuals and communities. Experiencing and witnessing racial discrimination can lead to increased stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. Together, we can honor Juneteenth by acknowledging its importance and supporting the mental health of our Black colleagues, clients and communities. Let’s use this day as a catalyst for continued learning, growth, and collective action toward a more just and equitable society. Here are a few suggestions: Learn and Reflect: Take time to educate yourself about Juneteenth and its significance. Reflect on how historical events continue to impact mental health and well-being today. Show Support: Attend local Juneteenth celebrations and support Black-owned businesses and organizations. Promote Inclusivity: Be an ally by fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone feels seen and heard. #juneteenth #mentalhealth #eatingdisorderrecovery #edrecovery
