Our #HHSMontcoPA Office of Senior Services (OSS) is proud to participate in SAGECare credentialing as part of our ongoing commitment to serving LGBTQ+ older adults. SAGECare is a cultural competency training program for: Skilled nursing facilities Health care organizations Assisted living communities Hospice and palliative care Long-term care communities Home health providers Anyone providing services to older adults When surveyed, 9 out of 10 individuals in the LGBTQ+ community feared discrimination in care settings if providers knew their sexual orientation or gender identity. These trainings help service providers create more LGBTQ+-welcoming organizations, and obtaining credentials help LGBTQ+ people find those trained providers. More info available here: https://lnkd.in/erH3_DjC OSS is credentialed via SAGECare, with our last credentialing occurring in 2020. All staff of OSS completed requisite training in order to establish that credential. In the fall of 2024, we anticipate renewing our credential and leveling up to Platinum Credentialing. Thank you to the Pennsylvania Department of Aging for sponsoring the management training series.

"Together, we can work towards building a community where all individuals have the opportunity to thrive and experience wellness. The work of supporting people in their struggle with mental health issues is powerful. It is transformative. It is essential to building the community that Montgomery County deserves to be." - Commissioner Winder. Shapiro Administration And Montgomery County Officials Highlight Governor’s Proposed Investments In Behavioral Health Funding, Honor Behavioral Health Services Employee: https://bit.ly/4bmj1oM DHS Secretary Valerie Arkoosh, MD, MPH visited Montgomery County, PA to highlight behavioral health investments in Governor Josh Shapiro’s 2024-25 proposed budget, which provides much-needed funding for mental health, substance use, and crisis services across the Commonwealth. Secretary Arkoosh also presented the 2024 Dennis Marion Impact Award to LeeAnn Moyer for her decades of public service and the positive impact she has had on policy, programs, and people in Montgomery County. “As a former Montgomery County Commissioner, I know first-hand how dedicated LeeAnn Moyer has been to ensure that critical, life-saving services are available to our neighbors and in our communities every day. Even in the face of scarce resources, she has worked tirelessly to ensure that Montgomery County residents have access to essential behavioral health treatments and supports,” said Secretary Arkoosh. “The Shapiro Administration is committed to building and maintaining behavioral health systems of care so that counties can continue to provide these services. I want to thank the county and state professionals who are helping our fellow Pennsylvanians stay healthy and thrive, and we must give them more support to meet their communities’ needs.” Montgomery County, PA Department of Health and Human Services

Congratulations to our very own LeeAnn Moyer for receiving the 2024 Dennis Marion Impact Award. Dennis Marion's commitment to public service and to engaging the individuals who use services was obvious to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Every year since 2017, the Dennis Marion Impact Award collects nominations for public servants who embody this sentiment. It is a way for us to honor those who have significantly impacted Pennsylvania's behavioral health service and resource capabilities for the better. Thank you to The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services for allowing us to formally honor LeeAnn, and thank you to the many sponsors and supporters who made the event possible.
