Everyone should follow Motmot, a critical infrastructure technology company addressing drinking water needs! Motmot is a startup coming out of the MSU ecosystem that I have seen advance incredibly since it was a project in my MBA entrepreneurship class. You also learn whether we are drinking the same water as dinosaurs drank 😬 https://lnkd.in/gs8ADNKK

It feels great to know the community supports our mission! Thank you Troy 🤝
💧 💧 💧 Its Water Wednesday! Did you know that water on Earth today is the same water that’s been here for nearly 5 BILLION YEARS?! So far, we haven’t managed to create any new water and only a small fraction of our water escapes into space. So, the same water in your glass or bottle that you’re holding right now is the SAME water that those thirsty dinosaurs were sipping on 65 MILLION years ago! ( Don’t worry, modern filtration and safety standards ensure that you aren’t drinking some ancient bacteria or Dinosaur Drool) The more you know! Source: castlewater.co.uk/blog

💧 💧 💧 Its Water Wednesday We can’t live without water and we use it everyday, but do we actually know where it comes from? The origin of Earth's water is a complex interplay of celestial events. Research suggests that water-rich celestial bodies, such as asteroids or comets, collided with Earth, bringing along significant water content. It is also theorized that water emerged during the planet's formation, released through volcanic activity. This process involved the expulsion of water vapor into the atmosphere, subsequently condensing and falling as precipitation. These intricate processes over billions of years have resulted in Earth's vast and diverse water resources. The more you know! Source: https://lnkd.in/gbeYSTAd

💧 💧 💧 Old pipes cause Texas cities to lose tens of billions of gallons of water each year— Texas’ most populous cities lost roughly 88 billion gallons of water last year because of aging water infrastructure and extreme heat, costing them millions of dollars and straining the state’s water supply, according to self-reported water loss audits. The documents show that bigger municipalities are not immune to water issues often seen in smaller, less-resourced communities around the state. All but one big city saw increased water loss from last year's audits. Read more below 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 https://lnkd.in/gtKBMUJK

🇺🇸 💧 🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day! To celebrate this monumental day, here’s a cool story about the oldest water system in America: the Schaefferstown Water Company (est. 1744). It is the country's oldest water system, built by Alexander Schaeffer, a German immigrant. After almost 300 years, this water system is still working effectively, still under the vision of the Schaefferstown Water Company. 💧 💧 💧 Its Water Wednesday! Boston Massachusetts became home to the first waterworks in 1652. Distribution pipes at that time were made of wood, constructed from bored-out logs from the area’s plentiful hemlock and elm trees and attached together with pitch, tar, or iron hoops. While this rudimentary distribution system did supply some of the area’s residents, it was mainly used for fire protection as homes during that time — constructed of wood and heated with fireplaces —were particularly prone to fire. Trouble for our Neighbors in the North…. 35% of Quebec City residents under strict restrictions after major water main break. “City officials say the pipe was approximately halfway through its 100-year life cycle, and there was no reasonable expectation for it to fail or to require multiple inspections to ensure quality. During an April inspection, officials noticed areas in need of repairs, not deemed urgent, and had planned to complete the repairs later in the year when water requirement is not as high.” Motmot is building a better future for water management. Our technology will empower communities to be proactive and prepared to navigate aging infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/gBmbJp9z

💧💧💧 How can one possibly know the current state and quality of our water infrastructure? Well, luckily the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) does the hard work for us. By compiling data they can grade each state's water infrastructure on a scale of A-E. Can you guess Michigan’s current letter grade? #motmot #watersystem #waterinfrastructure #aquapreneur #detroit #michigan #safety #security #innovation
