The University of Cincinnati Foundation has officially closed the book on its “Next, Now” campaign. The $2.19 billion fundraising effort will benefit the University of Cincinnati, University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics, UC Health and thousands of current and future students for decades to come. Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub has hired Stephanie Cornett as its new executive director. Cornett had most recently served as a development officer at Community Shares of Greater Cincinnati.

This month, we provide a sneak preview of the upcoming 2024 FotoFocus Cincinnati Biennial and many of the incredibly talented artists taking part. David Lyman sat down with the leaders of Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Know Theatre of Cincinnati, Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati and Cincinnati Shakespeare Company to discuss the state of the local performing arts scene. We also highlight many of the unsung heroes behind the art curtain which make Greater Cincinnati such as great a place for actors, directors, singers, dancers, custom artists, set designers and so many other creatives. Organizations represented include Cincinnati Music Theatre, The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Fringe Festival, American Legacy Theatre, Village Players of Fort Thomas and more. Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum has added Deborah Butterfield’s “Halfmoon Lake” to its growing collection of monumental contemporary sculptures. “Having a piece by such a well-known female sculptor is a tremendous honor, and this sculpture fits beautifully into our natural landscape,” Sarah Templeton Wilson said. “It not only enriches our park but also resonates with our mission to integrate art and nature.”

Ahead of its 18th concert season, concertnova is turning to local pianist and music educator Brianna Matzke to serve as its next executive director and lead the organization into the future.

Cincinnati-based nonprofit PIE: Partnership for Innovation in Education received $250,000 from the state of Ohio to support collaborations bringing Ohioans into the workforce pipeline while meeting the needs of job creators and the local economy. The organization received an additional community funding match of $125,000 to support the effort.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) has opened its box office for the sale of major events for the fall semester. Offerings range from chamber music to jazz and orchestra to opera, and culminate in the annual choral extravaganza, “Feast of Carols.” Get the full schedule below.

FotoFocus Cincinnati, the largest event of its kind in the United States, returns this September to Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton, Columbus and beyond. The FotoFocus Biennial, which celebrates photography and lens-based art, expands to 108 projects at 87 venues, including 16 first-time presenters, making this the largest program in event history.
