$5,200,000 in payment volume per month, 900 recipients, 14 different countries. This potential customer came to us because they were managing 7 payment platforms and the complexity and fees kept growing. On Mural they will be able to save over $120,000 per year and migrate from using 7 platforms (Payoneer, Wise, International wires, Xoom, Veem, PayPal, Remitly) to just 1, Mural. International payments shouldn’t be this hard. We are building to fix this.

Here is the crazy story of how one of our top customers was introduced to us through a random conversation at WeWork… One of our angel investors Bill, overheard Andrew, founder of virtual staffing company A-Teamwork, sharing how painful it was to pay his team in Argentina. Just another day in a New York WeWork. Bill shared with him: “I don’t mean to eavesdrop, but I just invested in a company Mural that might be able to help.” Sure enough, Bill put us in touch, we sent over a Loom demo with how Andrew could pay out 100 contractors in less than 30 seconds. Andrew signed the next day. We then met Martina, based in Bahia Blanca, Argentina, who was previously a school teacher and then joined A Teamwork to help Andrew with his business. Fast forward a couple of months, Marti is now running operations for a rapidly growing team paying out hundreds of talented operators in Argentina. I was able to visit Marti and Andrew in Argentina in April this year and it was truly a blessing. It’s incredible to see how far they have come. Over the last 6 months, we 10x'd our annual contract value at Mural. This laid the foundation for a scalable solution, and we were able to move quickly. 2/ Built case studies, won our first public company customer Those early wins became powerful success stories, opening doors to larger businesses with more complex needs. 3/ Launched features that solved high opportunity problems Our direct-to-bank feature for 40+ currencies wasn't just a new offering - it unlocked a new revenue stream that was hiding in plain sight. The result? We're not just helping businesses be more profitable - we're transforming how companies handle global payments, from SMBs to enterprises. I ran my first half-marathon yesterday after a series of unlikely events. Octavien from our team has been training to run a marathon in November for months now. At this point, we all know about what it takes to run a great marathon - his schedule, his routes, and even the views during his runs. During Taco Tuesday lunch last week, Octavien shared a challenge with the team - “I’m running a half-marathon this Sunday, why don’t you join?” I was uncertain to say the least. I’d just gotten back into running with Esteban a few weeks back. Nevertheless, the team effort sounded too good to pass on. Will, also on our team, was ready for the challenge. We were locked in. We woke up at 6am yesterday to run the Central Park double loop half-marathon. The beginning was great, middle was tough, and ending slightly miserable. Nevertheless, as we finished our half-marathon in Central Park yesterday, I was reminded by how much I love our 2% better culture. 1% better for yourself every day, 1% better for your team & community every day. It’s all about the small incremental changes that compound over time, that shape our shared team identity. This is our Mural culture, and we practice it every single day. We recently talked with a European bank to better understand how they handle international payments for their customers. It’s a stark reminder of why we’re building Mural. One of the bank’s clients lost their money sending Euros (EUR) to Argentine Pesos (ARS): 1/ Client initiated EUR to ARS payment for 500 euros 2/ Bank initiated transfer via SWIFT correspondent banking system. 3/ Money sent to a correspondent bank in London 4/ Transferred to a correspondent bank in New York 5/ Transferred to a correspondent bank in Argentina 6/ Transferred to a local bank in Argentina 7/ Local bank could not accept the transfer (tracking details mismatch) and rejected it 8/ Money then had to be returned to the original bank via all the intermediary banks 9/ A couple weeks later, the client received 250 euros back. The web of correspondent banks is not free. Across each step, a fee is applied. 10/ Often times the sending bank might not be fully aware of all the intermediary banks along the way. It’s tough to track. At Mural, we enable our clients to skip the correspondent banking system.
