  • We're thrilled to celebrate Michael Colaneri, a former physician's assistant at Martha's Vineyard Hospital, for receiving the prestigious Spirit of the Vineyard Award. His years of service to the West Tisbury Fire Department and his tireless efforts in addressing the affordable housing crisis are just a few examples of his dedication to our island community. • Earlier this month, nursing students from the Accelerated Bachelor of Science Nursing (ABSN) program at Mass General Hospital Institute of Health Professions wrapped up their initial clinical rotations at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Unlike the traditional one-year ABSN program, our curriculum extends over two years, allowing students to continue working while they study. • On August 5th, community members gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking at 490 Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road in Edgartown. This milestone marks the beginning of a new era in senior care on the island and will provide much-needed housing for healthcare workers. Special guests included U.S. Senator Ed Markey, who secured $53 million in USDA funding for the project, and Denise Schepici, president of Martha's Vineyard Hospital. As construction begins, we look forward to the next milestone in 2025—a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new home for seniors and the healthcare heroes who will care for them.

  • A huge thank you to our volunteers who have been shining bright this summer at Martha's Vineyard Hospital! We've been lucky to have your support, and your blue vests have become a familiar and friendly sight. Our Volunteer Program is thriving, but we're always looking for more community members to join our team. If you're interested in volunteering, please reach out to Michele Moore at [email protected].

  • The recent displacement of our homeless community members was a heartbreaking event last month, but it also revealed the incredible strength and compassion of the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital family. Our staff immediately responded to the community's needs. From providing urgent medical care in the Emergency Department to assisting with essential paperwork and offering vital supplies, our team has been a source of support and resilience.

  • We're celebrating the kindness shown by our community! Last November, Laura Hilliard, RN, went above and beyond when she found a lost dog and reunited it with its owner, David Fialkow. As a token of his gratitude, David made a generous donation in her honor. Laura decided to share the gift with her colleagues in the Acute Care Department. With the support of hospital leadership, a portion of the funds was used to purchase Martha’s Vineyard Hospital jackets for the team, pictured here.
