Our Water Quality Lab is charged with protecting the quality of the water that we distribute throughout our vast, 5,200 square-mile #SoCal service area. And within this La Verne-based facility, there are lots of things that just make sense to help us meet our extraordinary responsibility to the communities we serve.

Spotlighting Jeremy, a construction inspector in Metropolitan's Construction Management team, as one of our #WaterChampions. He plays an integral role on our pipeline expansion project to secure the reliability of #SoCal's water supplies. Construction Inspector Jeremy Mercer is part of Metropolitan’s Construction Management team on the Perris Valley Pipeline Interstate 215 crossing project. The pipeline went into service more than 10 years ago and runs through the cities of Riverside and Perris, delivering treated water from Metropolitan's Henry J. Mills Water Treatment Plant in Riverside. This expansion project consists of 3,000 feet of tunneling and pipeline installation beneath the I-215, connecting two portions of existing pipes to expand the delivery of water to Eastern and Western municipal water districts. Construction Management oversees Metropolitan’s projects to ensure we are meeting contract requirements, including schedule, cost and quality assurance as well as safety and environmental compliance. The tunneling work was completed in August 2024, with a new pipeline portion expected to be in service later this year. #MWDEmployees #CAWater #WorkerMonday
