Pathways to Hope this year was nothing short of incredible! This powerful event united individuals, families, faith leaders, and more in the mission to break the stigma around mental health and build a culture of understanding and support. Our CEO, Dan Gillison, Jr., joined Doug Beach, Executive Director of NAMI Greater San Antonio, and Tommy Calvert, Bexar County Commissioner, Precinct 4, to kick off the Pathways to Hope San Antonio conference. The sessions that followed sparked meaningful conversations and innovative ideas to create a truly 360-degree supportive community.

Nearly half of parents (48%) report feeling completely overwhelmed by stress most days, a stark contrast to 26% among other adults. This highlights a critical need for government, workplace, and community programs tailored to support parents and caregivers. The U.S. Surgeon General's new advisory outlines actionable steps we can take. Learn more at surgeongeneral.gov/parents. For additional support please consider these NAMI resources: • NAMI Basics: A 6-session education program for parents, caregivers, and families of youth (ages 22 and younger) experiencing mental health challenges. • You Are Not Alone Book: Order our Associate Medical Director's book, You Are Not Alone: A Guide for Parents and Caregivers, at youarenotalonebook.org • StigmaFree Workplace Initiative: Provides employers with resources needed to support parents’ mental health • Back to School Guide for Working Caregivers: Offers practical strategies to support caregivers' mental well-being during the transition back to school at https://bit.ly/3MhiOs

Did you know that NAMI's poll found that only 58% of employees would share about their mental health at work, with 42% of those who wouldn't share citing fear of stigma and judgment as the reason why! With NAMI’s StigmaFree Workplace initiative, our goal is to guide companies towards destigmatizing mental health conversations, fostering a culture of openness and understanding, and ensuring access to mental health support for their employees.
