On April 18, 2024, Dr. Joseph Schumacher with the NaphCare Charitable Foundation, Inc. attended the 2024 Carole W. Samuelson Endowed Lecture at UAB, where he had the honor of meeting Raul Gupta, MD, the Director of National Control Policy (ONDCP) for the White House. During the event, Dr. Gupta's captivating presentation shed light on the pressing fentanyl crisis and emphasized the importance of medically assisted treatment for opiate addiction, particularly within correctional facilities. We are honored to recognize the achievements of Anna Turner, Clements High School graduate and NaphCare Charitable Foundation, Inc. scholarship recipient in 2020. In December of 2023, Anna graduated from Athens State University summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Secondary Education. She is already making an impact as an Interventionist in Limestone County Schools and playing a pivotal role in shaping the lives of the students she serves. Looking forward, Anna says she has plans to pursue her master’s degree in education.   Anna shares a word of gratitude: “I am truly grateful for this chance to touch the lives of those in my community. I realize I would not have had this chance without your generous help throughout my journey. Join us in celebrating Ansley Strength, a recipient of the NaphCare Charitable Foundation, Inc. scholarship in 2019. Ansley just recently graduated from Auburn University in the fall of ’23 and is already making a difference as a Research Technician at the Native Ecosystem Restoration Lab at Auburn University College of Forestry, Wildlife, and Environment. In her role, Ansley is dedicated to assisting local landowners in effectively managing and restoring plant and wildlife populations. Ansley’s academic accomplishments and valuable contributions to the College were recognized at an honors and awards celebration in Auburn last year. We take great pride in Ansley and her work, which undoubtedly has a profound impact on the world and will benefit future generations.
