On Tuesday, the Iowa Transportation Commission announced that it approved $9.3 million for the fiscal year 2025 State Aviation Program. Several subprograms will receive funding through the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and aviation vertical infrastructure programs. Well, that’s a wrap for the Inaugural Tennessee Drone Symposium! It was a great two-day event with 29 speakers representing industry and government partners, plus a day of outdoor demonstrations. Last Friday, the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics announced a landmark investment of $2 million in aerospace and aviation education program funding for FY25. This record breaking investment follows a record number of grant applications and will expand the already robust STEM based educational resources available to schools in the state. Additionally, the investment aims to build a robust talent pipeline and drive innovation in the industry. Hosted annually since 1974, the Virginia Aviation Conference celebrated 50 years of meeting with a special reception at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center last night. 🚀 After a day of engaging and informative sessions, the NASAO team (left to right: Jessica Nagasako, Greg Pecoraro, Tracy MacDonald, CMP and Taylor Bryan) was excited to join in on the celebration. Earlier this week, NASAO's Greg Pecoraro and Jessica Nagasako (as well as representatives from many state aviation departments) attended the Federal Aviation Administration Drone and AAM Symposium in Baltimore, MD. This year's symposium theme was Connected Skies / Connected Communities where sessions and workshops focused on how the FAA will continue to safely integrate drones while creating a regulatory and operational framework to accelerate advanced operations. Kenji Sugahara (OR) spoke on a panel titled "Won't You Be My Neighbor: Community Engagement for New Entrants" alongside Caryn Moore Lund (Ferrovial), David Oord (Wisk), Debra Sanning (FAA), and moderated by Beth White (FAA). The session highlighted the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders as communities consider new entrants’ operations and emphasized the FAA’s primary role in safely integrating AAM and controlling the airspace. #AAM #UAS #aviation #AVGeek #drone

Recently, Michigan’s Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist announced that four Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) related projects will receive $6.25 million in total funding. $2.6 million dollars will fund the installation of BETA TECHNOLOGIES' multimodal chargers at Cherry Capital Airport (TVC), Capital Region International Airport (LAN), West Michigan Regional Airport (BIV), and Willow Run Airport (YIP). “Advanced air mobility has the power to change the way we move goods and people in a significant way," said Nate Ward, BETA's Head of Network Development. "It will increase operational safety and reliability while also reducing costs and emissions. BETA is focused on building dependable and accessible charging infrastructure that will enable this new mode of transportation. Michigan has a long history of driving transformation in mobility, and we’re grateful to be working with Michigan to install this transformative technology across the state.”
