About us

The National Ability Center works to empower individuals of all abilities by building self-esteem, confidence, and lifetime skills through their participation in our adaptive sports, recreation, educational, and community programs. Learn more at: http://www.discovernac.org Founded in 1985, the National Ability Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization. With the generosity of private donors, corporate sponsorships, and the commitment of over a thousand seasonal volunteers, we can serve our non-profit mission and bridge the gap between perceived limitations and what is possible. All activities are offered at an affordable rate and scholarships are available, ensuring participation for all applicants. The NAC staff draws from decades of collective experience working with people who live with a disability and harnessing the power of specialized adaptive equipment, techniques, and teaching methods. Athletes, veterans, children, and families come to our facilities from all 50 US states and around the globe to participate in our transformational programs. We work hard to make recreation and outdoor adventures fun and accessible to people of all abilities. Our “I Can” philosophy reinforces our belief that a disability shouldn’t hinder anyone from living a vibrant, active, and rewarding life.
