Unique Solutions For Affordable Housing
About us
The National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies (NALHFA), founded in 1982, is the national association of professionals working to finance affordable housing in the broader community development context at the local level. As a non-profit association, NALHFA is an advocate before Congress and federal agencies on legislative and regulatory issues affecting affordable housing and provides technical assistance and educational opportunities to its members and the public. Members are city and county agencies, non-profits, and private firms, such as underwriters, consultants, financial advisers, bond counsel, and rating agencies, which help in producing housing from concept to completion. Our mission…NALHFA’s mission is to provide leadership in the field of affordable housing finance and to deliver quality services to our members. Our vision…NALHFA’s vision is to be the premier national association of local government housing agencies advancing the interests of our members and providing leadership in the field of affordable housing finance. Leadership NALHFA is governed by a fourteen person Board of Directors, including five officers — President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and an Immediate Past President. Care is taken to ensure that the Board is a reasonably accurate reflection of the membership and includes representatives from the regular member agencies from locations characterized by a wide range of demographic and socioeconomic conditions. The President appoints members to a variety of committees to assist in conducting NALHFA business. Policy is developed by the Board of Directors based on committee recommendations and concerns of the general membership. Day-to-day administration of the Association's affairs is carried out by the staff at NALHFA's National Headquarters.

Over the past quarter, I've traveled the country (and partook in many video calls) to understand how to ensure the $27B Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund achieves its ambitious goals: climate impact, community prosperity, and permanent market creation. From community finance leaders at the National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies (NALHFA) conference, CohnReznick LLP's New Market Tax Conference, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and UNH Carsey School of Public Policy's Financial Innovation Round Table; to green infrastructure development veterans at the Infocast Energy Storage, American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) Financial Forum, and Coalition for Community Solar Access' innovation summit, it's been a whirlwind of fantastic conversations. Some insights: ▶ The high-level vision is mostly aligned…but the path forward is still crystalizing: As we move from initial proposals to implementation, discussions are ongoing about what products to start with, who owns/creates what standards, quick wins vs. more careful planning, and more. ▶ Collaboration is critical…but we need to move beyond silos: Whether it's skepticism of Wall Street or government programs, perceptions of who knows best, or ideas that "it always goes like this," the best solutions will leverage innovation without re-inventing the wheel and will bring us all together to align on standards, processes, and ways to iterate. ▶ There's plenty of work ahead, and I remain very hopeful and committed to doing our part. While Banyan Infrastructure is primarily a software company, our vision is to create a connected, impactful, liquid market. Our solution works best when standards are aligned, and partners can effectively engage with the insights at their fingertips to accelerate success. We now have a GGRF section on our website to continue sharing what we learn to best support the ecosystem (https://lnkd.in/gcD2pRQZ), with some key pieces coming out this month. I'm always happy to engage directly in the meantime. The recipients and ecosystem have done fantastic work so far in a quarter, and I hope we can keep up the energy and progress into this summer!
