Trauma-informed care is now recommended as a universal precaution in sexual and reproductive healthcare. Do your informed consent processes, examination techniques, and education practices in pelvic care fully embody this framework? This presentation will provide an ethical lens into the work of consent and examination in pelvic healthcare, with critiques of and updates to Dr. Tillman's own paper "Consent in Pelvic Care," published in 2021. Uniquely, Raya was born in New Hampshire, but raised in rural northern India, where her passion for women’s health began at a volunteer labor and delivery unit in Bihar, India. She also served as an active-duty Air Force Nurse before becoming a WHNP student at Frontier Nursing University. With her impressive history of diverse experiences, Raya will be a valuable proponent for women’s health education and awareness. As a certified WHNP, she plans to address the disparities of underserved communities with compassionate, trauma-informed, and holistic healthcare. The 2024 Ambassadors will attend the Annual Women’s Health Conference in Chicago from September 25 to September 28, 2024. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gbsuc3Uf. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has published two critical documents regarding the Oropouche Virus that are important for pregnant people to be aware of. The first, "Interim Guidance for Evaluation and Management of Infants Born to Pregnant People with Confirmed or Probable Oropouche Virus Disease," offers recommendations for healthcare providers caring for infants potentially exposed to the virus during pregnancy. The second document details recent Oropouche virus cases among U.S. travelers returning from Cuba, marking the first such cases reported. Pregnant individuals need to reconsider non-essential travel to areas under an Oropouche Level 2 Travel Health Notice, like Cuba, to prevent exposure.

Collaborative Leadership from Boardroom to Patient-Centered Caregiving is essential for fostering effective relationships between CEOs and board members, as well as between healthcare professionals and patients. This approach not only enhances organizational dynamics but also improves patient outcomes by prioritizing communication, trust, and shared goals. By empowering all stakeholders and embracing transparency, collaborative leadership creates an environment where diverse perspectives are valued, and innovative solutions can emerge to address complex challenges in healthcare and beyond. In this episode of Unlimited, Valerie Friedlander invited our NPWH CEO Heather L. Maurer, MA, CAE, for a conversation around advancing collaborative leadership from boardroom to patient-centered caregiving. Some of what they discussed in this episode includes: 💜 Listening to yourself, saying no, and respecting your own expertise 💜 Collaborative decision-making model 💜 Building trust through transparency, time, and accountability 💜 Advocacy, shared humanity, and asking for what you need Find the podcast on your favorite listening platform or at https://lnkd.in/ezxfEejD
