Hot off the press! 📰 NAPEO President and CEO Casey Clark wrote an op-ed for The Hill about the ongoing #ERTC delays, stressing the urgency for the Internal Revenue Service to process low-risk claims. "The IRS can significantly decrease the logjam and alleviate this financial strain by processing the consolidated returns of professional employer organizations, which, by definition, have already been subject to additional layers of scrutiny to ensure accuracy and eligibility," writes Clark. "If there is time to cast a spotlight on what makes claims illegitimate — which the IRS did in a release last month — there must also be time to process claims the IRS has found legitimate." NAPEO President and CEO Casey Clark was featured in a Bloomberg article today, about last week's failed tax bill vote and its effect on the ongoing ERTC delay. In it, he notes that a clear definition of what constitutes an 'ERTC promoter' would lessen the Internal Revenue Service's continued backlog: "Any clarity about who is considered a promoter, which is defined in the tax bill, would have helped ease the backlog, said Casey Clark, president and CEO of the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations," they write. Following the Senate's failed vote on the bipartisan tax package that included several ERTC provisions, NAPEO is continuing to urge the Internal Revenue Service to clear the spiraling backlog of legitimate claims.
