"Presently under construction in New Brunswick and almost near completion, the facility will further leverage the intellectual and clinical assets of the Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health. By bringing every facet of an oncology portfolio under one roof, we will enhance the potential for breakthroughs, while refining the model of cancer care, one for replication by peer entities around the world." To put it simply, proximity and access to cancer care matter.

A City is Never Finished.
About us
New Brunswick Development Corporation (Devco) was established in 1976 as a nonprofit development company to initiate redevelopment projects and to serve as the vehicle for public and private investment in the City of New Brunswick. Since that time, Devco has overseen and managed over $3.5 billion of redevelopment activity including the development of residential, commercial, office, and other projects in order to aid in economic revitalization. Devco undertakes community development projects as may be necessary to promote and improve the economic, social, cultural, institutional and physical environment of the communities that it serves. Devco has developed a model that allows it to fulfill its mission in ever changing real estate and market conditions. It has focused on developing strong local collaborations and using true public private partnerships to promote and successfully carry out redevelopment projects. Devco, together with its public and private partners, work together to conceive of important and essential redevelopment initiatives, develop sound project financing structures, put together teams of highly qualified professionals and contractors, successfully complete projects and manage the assets once complete. Devco’s use of public-private partnerships brings a business-oriented approach to its planning and redevelopment projects. Devco has built new public schools and state-of-the-art health care facilities, created public office buildings, hospitality ventures, and major mixed-use development initiatives and developed market rate, senior, student, and affordable housing, as well as participated in the planning necessary for continued growth and revitalization.

Earlier today, we celebrated the Topping off of H-1 at HELIX NJ with our partners at Rutgers University, RWJBarnabas Health, Hackensack Meridian Health, New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), Middlesex County, NJ - County Government, @New Brunswick -- and the men and women of the building trades who make our projects possible. The topping off marks the completion of the structural steel and the start of the next phase of construction. Speakers and attendees were invited to sign the last steel beam that was hoisted 250 feet into the air and placed atop the 12-story, 574,000 square foot facility. "If you build it, they will come. You have built it. And here we come." -- Dean Amy Murtha, Rutgers School of Medicine

The Rutgers Cancer Institute Patient & Family Advisory Council (PFAC) has been an essential partner in the planning & development of the new Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center. This week, they had an opportunity to tour the Morris Cancer Center to experience first-hand the construction progress to date. From the earliest days of programming and planning to reviewing room mockups and interior finishes to providing feedback on furniture and workflow, the Patient & Family Advisory Council has provided important guidance and advice to help ensure that the cancer center keeps patient comfort and care front and center.
