About us

NetRisk, headquartered in Greenwich, CT and co-sharing space with hedge fund Long Term Capital was a risk management software and advisory services company providing a range of enterprise risk management solutions, including consulting services. It was founded in 1997 by Eugene Shanks, PhD in Economics from Stanford University and former President of Bankers Trust. Its subsidiary OpVantage offered solutions for operational risk via proprietary machine learning models. The vendor's OpVar operational loss database was created via a previous merger with the op risk business of PricewaterhouseCoopers. NetRisk was acquired by Fitch Risk Management in 2002 for an undisclosed amount. Daniel Mudge, former CEO of OpVantage, said: "The integration of Fitch Risk Management's credit analytics with NetRisk's and OpVantage's advisory services and OpVar tools to facilitate the quantification of operational risk and capital at risk will allow Fitch Risk Management to be able to better serve the global market needs for central risk management solutions."
