An all-in-one benefits solution to manage chronic neurological conditions, a top 5 medical spend category

About us

Neura Health is a virtual neurology clinic for the 145 million Americans with neurological conditions; we have built the first national network of tele-neurologists. Our technology platform leverages smart triage, AI, and self-serve content to make diagnosis and treatment more efficient, while providing a proactive, patient-first solution that delivers empathetic, best-in-class neurological care to those living with disabling and often misunderstood diseases. With neurology as a top-five expense category for health plans and systems, the opportunity to drive cost savings plus deliver better patient outcomes is enormous. Neura Health treats migraine, headache, tremor, epilepsy, concussion, long-haul COVID, sleep, and patients with undiagnosed symptoms like pain, cognitive fog, numbness, and more. Neura has raised $10.3m in venture funding from the world's top VC funds including Norwest Venture Partners, Next Play Ventures, Koch Disruptive Technologies, Pear VC, Index, Bessemer, and others. Staffed by top board-certified neurologists and sub-specialists, Neura Health connects patients with a neurologist video visit within a week, instead of months-long waitlists that local providers typically have. Patients receive a personalized treatment plan, a dedicated health coach, and a concierge team to manage their neurological disease. Neura Health’s quality care improves quality of life for people with neurological illness. Our clinical outcomes have been published in two peer-reviewed medical journals in 2022 and 2023.

Starting in 2020, I suffered through a long, painful diagnostic odyssey to understand my debilitating chronic pain. I saw over 20 different specialists, had 10 different invasive pain relief procedures, and sat on a 6-month waitlist to see a neurologist, even in a major metro like New York City. I saw firsthand how our healthcare system is fundamentally broken for specialty care, particularly in areas like neurology and so many areas of women’s health. Data is not properly leveraged, specialist wait times are worsening, comprehensive care is scant, and fee-for-service visits aren’t aligned with longitudinal improvement. On top of this, many pain conditions disproportionately affect women, who have been left out of clinical research for an appalling number of decades. For example, women make up about 75% of the 30 million Americans who live with migraine. Neura Health was founded to help close the access gap and support the 140 million Americans who suffer from conditions like migraine, sleep disorders, multiple sclerosis, dementia, and others. We’re excited to be building in a time when many other women’s health companies are working to advance access and research in condition areas that disproportionately affect women. Today we’re honored to share our support and collaboration on Equal Research Day with Evvy. #EqualResearchDay #Healthcare #WomensHealth

It’s #EqualResearchDay! 💥 Evvy created #EqualResearchDay on June 10 because women weren’t required in U.S. clinical research until June 10th, 1993 (Think Equal Pay Day but for the gender health gap!) To this day, there are countless holes ⚫ in our scientific and medical understanding of the female body — and that directly impacts us as patients. If you’ve ever experienced delays in diagnoses, failed treatments, mystery symptoms with no answers, or medical gaslighting — #EqualResearchDay is for you. This year, we brought together 46 innovative companies and compiled 100 Effed Facts about the Gender Health Gap across 12 health areas: ⚫ Autoimmune Disease ⚫ Brain + Mental Health ⚫ Cancer ⚫ Endometriosis ⚫ Fertility ⚫ Heart Health ⚫ Hormonal Health ⚫ Maternal Health ⚫ Medical Gaslighting ⚫ Menopause ⚫ Menstrual & Sexual Health ⚫ Vaginal & Urinary Health Earlier this week, we launched a limited-edition coffee table book featuring all 100 Effed Facts to benefit Women's Health Access Matters (you can order a copy at EqualResearchDay.com before they sell out... !) But we decided these facts are too important not to share widely — so we are posting a public version here on LinkedIn. 𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗣:  💥 Share this post (and add your story about why equal research matters to you)!  💥 Learn more and shop the limited edition coffee table book to benefit WHAM at EqualResearchDay.com The female body shouldn’t be a medical mystery — together, let’s close the gender health gap for good. #equalresearchday2024 #evvy #genderhealthgap #closethegenderhealthgap ——— 2024 Equal Research Day Collaborative: Evvy Aavia adyn Allara AOA Dx Bloomer Tech Caraway Clue Cofertility Conceive Diem DotLab Doveras Elektra Health Elix Frame Gabbi Gaia Gameto Health In Her HUE HerMD Hey Jane The Honey Pot Company Iron Health Julie Products Inc. Neura Health is proud to announce the launch of The Wonder Woman Collective, a coalition of women’s health companies with proven outcomes and cost savings in the most prevalent and costly specialty categories affecting women: mental health, migraine, multiple sclerosis, hypothyroidism and more. Thank you to Fierce Healthcare and Anastassia Gliadkovskaya for sharing this important step for the future of women’s healthcare.  According to McKinsey, addressing the gender health gap will boost our global economy by at least $1 trillion by 2040.  This strategic partnership addresses critical gaps in women's healthcare, focusing on improving healthcare outcomes, promoting health equity, reducing costs, and enhancing women's productivity. Given each company’s deep levels of focus in our respective condition categories, we have built product moats addressing the unique needs of patients living with these chronic conditions. We’re thrilled to partner with Paloma Health, LEVY Health, Seven Starling, and Origin. Together we are working to deliver streamlined specialty care for employees, health plan members, and consumers. With a shared commitment to innovation and excellence, this is the start of a foundation where future companies can join and redefine the standard of care in women’s health in a data-driven way.

Thank you Association of Migraine Disorders for inviting our Medical Director Dr Thomas Berk, MD FAHS and our Head of Social Cannon Tekstar Hodge to discuss two rare and debilitating types of migraine: hemiplegic migraine and MUMS (migraine with unilateral motor symptoms). Listen to Cannon describe what it's like to have MUMS (migraine with unilateral motor symptoms), a rarely-known and severe type of migraine that often is confused for stroke. Thanks to employees like Cannon, we're able to better understand what our patients experience and endure, making us better and more empathetic providers. Our disabled and chronically ill employees advocate for our patients and provide perspectives we otherwise would not have, and we're always grateful for that. ❓What are some of the symptoms that you experience while living with MUMS? In the full episode of Spotlight On Migraine, Dr. Thomas Berk, MD FAHS from Neura Health talks about Hemiplegic Migraine and Migraine with Unilateral Motor Symptoms and their differences, while Cannon Tekstar Hodge shares her personal journey living with MUMS. Watch the full podcast or read the transcript at https://lnkd.in/d8QziBMW If you are interested in trying Neura Health, you can receive $15 off your first month of membership– just use the discount code AMD15. TRANSCRIPT 👇 And like I said, these symptoms erupt in a rapid succession like this tidal wave. So it’s rare that one symptom is happening alone. And so it’s like my hands will go numb, and 10 seconds later my speech begins to slur. And then 10 seconds later, I can’t hold up my head. And 10 seconds after that, my face begins to freeze, and I feel my lip tugging down, and it’s like all of that’s happening within about 30 seconds. And then it’s occurring to me that this is like okay, here we go again, here’s an attack. And then I’m like okay, let me try to lift my arm, and I can’t. And I realize okay, I should probably take some medicine.

Societal stigma unfortunately affects people living with certain health conditions, and neurological conditions are no exception. Medical misinformation circulating on social media can add to the existing stigma, especially in the workplace. While often well-meaning, medical misinformation distributed via social media can undermine the well-being and clinical outcomes of those living with these conditions, and this has a ripple effect on how chronically ill employees are treated in the workplace. 👉🏻 Pressure to work through flares:  It’s not uncommon for severe conditions to be minimized on social media and made to seem like they’re something that is easily controlled by healthy lifestyle changes. People who have seen this misinformation may not understand the true severity of a colleague’s neurological condition and they may expect an employee to work during flares and attacks, worsening their health, productivity, and performance. For example, a manager may think that migraine is a bad headache while in reality, the employee’s migraine attack temporarily impairs their vision and word recall in addition to causing severe pain. 👉🏻 Unsolicited advice: However well-intentioned, colleagues may suggest “hacks” or alternative treatments seen on social media (like the viral foot soaking trend), without understanding the severity of the person’s disease or the potential health implications this could have. Unsolicited advice can further stigmatize a disease because it infers that the condition has an easy fix when the reality is that the condition’s treatment is quite complex. 👉🏻 Hiding the severity of their condition: Because of stigma, chronically ill employees may feel isolated and compelled to mask their disability or illness from colleagues, fearing judgment and discrimination. This leads to increased stress and mental health challenges in addition to the symptoms of the condition itself. If employers and colleagues recognize that stigma exists and create an environment where employees feel welcome, more employees would feel safe to disclose their conditions and access the accommodations they need. Doing so would increase workplace productivity and foster a more inclusive community of trust and acceptance. #HumanResources #EmployeeAccommodations #MedicalMisinformation

The image text overlay reads "A current viral TikTok trend promises that soaking feet in hot water will make migraine go away, minimizing how serious and disabling the disease is. It may feel nice and relax the person, but the reasons why people say foot soaking is helpful are false. People likely benefit due to the placebo effect."

Congratulations to Neura Health medical director Thomas Berk, MD FAHS, for his participation in the 2024 Headache on the Hill advocacy event in Washington, DC! This event is critical for raising awareness about migraine and headache diseases and advocating for better policies and resources. This year’s asks include cosponsoring the Safe Step Act, cosponsoring the NIH Clinical Trial Diversity Act, and supporting robust funding for headache care for veterans. Advocates, including Dr. Berk, traveled across the country to represent their state and advocate in partnership with the Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy. “It’s remarkable how many of our patients are here advocating, from all over the county. They’ve all expressed gratitude for their care from Neura Health,” observed Dr. Berk. We’re so proud of Dr. Berk and our patient advocates who have dedicated so much of their time and energy to champion better migraine and headache care for everyone. #PatientAdvocacy #HOH2024 #MigraineAwareness #HeadacheAwareness

Did you know that over 100 million Americans live with neurological disorders? This is 1 in 3 employees living with conditions such as migraine, epilepsy, sleep disorders, post-concussion syndrome, and more.  Neurological disorders impact employees and workplaces in profound ways. These conditions can significantly affect productivity and well-being, from presenteeism to the need to take additional time off for doctor's appointments. Calling insurance or doctor’s offices to follow up on a prior authorization can also take up countless workday hours. Employers can play a crucial role in supporting their workforce by offering flexible office hours, the ability to work from home, reasonable accommodations, and comprehensive healthcare benefits tailored to address neurological conditions. This not only fosters inclusivity but also enhances productivity and employee satisfaction. Neura Health's benefits programs offer a solution for faster provider access, delivering better health outcomes at lower costs. Our all-in-one solution proactively manages chronic neurological conditions with neurologist video visits, as well as providing employees with unlimited online access to care teams, personalized treatment plans, and one-on-one health coaching. Let's prioritize creating workplaces that accommodate the diverse needs of all employees, ensuring everyone can thrive. Together, we can make a difference. #WorkplaceWellness #Inclusion #EmployeeBenefits
