Nevada Gold Mines has partnered with Zero Suicides Elko County to offer free suicide first-aid training to NGM employees and community members in Elko and surrounding areas. Through SafeTalk training, anyone in our community can learn how to reach out to someone thinking about suicide and get them to the right resources to help keep them safe. Classes are scheduled for September 10th and 24th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Nannini Administration Building in Elko (540 Court St.). Only thirty seats are available per class. Nevada Gold Mines proudly sponsors the University of Nevada Reno’s Freshman Intensive Transition Program (NevadaFIT)! The week-long program is designed to help new and transfer students adjust to life on campus and in the classroom through engagement with faculty and students, daily coursework, and an overall student resource introduction. NGM representatives engaged with students and families during registration to educate them about our company, our world-class workforce, and the diverse opportunities the mining industry provides. We were honored to be recognized by UNR President, Brian Sandoval and celebrated by the freshman delegation for our support of NevadaFIT during the Opening Ceremony. It was great to be part of this UNR tradition and help welcome nearly 4,000 new students to the wolf pack!

#NationalSafetyMonth ended with a bang!💥 NGM hosted Stop the Bleed courses in Elko, Battle Mountain, and Winnemucca—getting 70 members of our team certified! A huge thank you to Lee Cabaniss with Elko County Office of Emergency Management, who volunteered his time to teach the first class and help train members of our Mine Emergency Response Teams (MERT) to become Stop the Bleed instructors. Also, thank you to NGM’s Health and Safety Superintendent, Mike Peck, and our MERT members for their help in conducting these classes. ⚒️ Gold Fever Flashback! ⚒️ Earlier this year, over 900 students from Elko, Lander, and Humboldt Counties participated in our annual Gold Fever event. The event offers students a chance to learn what mining is all about and why it's so vital in our everyday lives, including how gold is used worldwide. That’s a wrap! Nevada Gold Mines capped off our 2024 Summer Intern Program with the Top 20 Presentations last week. Each summer, Nevada Gold Mines interns present about their summer projects in the company of peers and leaders at the site level, with attendee votes determining who moves on to the Top 20 Presentations. The presentations are a great opportunity for our interns to showcase their unique skills and talents, share the results of their projects, and network with company leaders. We joined the Nevada Mining Association and the Reno Aces to celebrate the mining industry. With over 1,000 miners in attendance, the night was filled with fun activities⚾️ Our very own Steven St. Germain threw the opening pitch! He leads NGM's Carlin Mine Emergency Response Team and they recently won “best team overall” at competitions in Winnemucca and Louisiana.
