About Dmitry Balyasny Dmitry Balyasny is the Chief Investment Officer and Managing Partner of Balyasny Asset Management, L.P. (BAM), a global investment firm founded in 2001 focused on delivering consistent, alpha-driven returns through a multi-strategy, multi-PM approach. From a young age, Balyasny was involved in sales and developed an interest in the stock market, which led him to become a licensed stockbroker while still in college at Loyola University in Chicago. Despite initial challenges, including a year without earnings and numerous rejections from hedge funds, Balyasny's determination led him to a pivotal role at Schonfeld Securities and eventually to establishing Balyasny Asset Management (BAM). BAM's growth, challenges, and strategic shifts, especially in risk management, highlight Balyasny's adaptability and vision. Dmitry holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Loyola University in Chicago. He is involved in a variety of philanthropic activities in his local community as well as in communities where BAM operates.
