Omne trium perfectum For those who did not study Latin in school, this phrase is known as The Power of Three and translates as “Everything that comes in threes is perfect.” Well, we had a perfect New Enterprise Forum event this past week with our monthly forum meeting and its three agenda items of two showcase investor presentations and an expert panel discussion on the topic of "The Devil Is in the Details - Getting Angel Deals Done." Kudos to Matt Henry, Co-Founder and CEO of EarthMetric Innovations, and Jerold Zwas, CEO for PakItGreen, for completing the NEF coaching process and making their presentations. Onward and upward. Sincere thanks to our panel moderator Diane Durance, a leading expert in Michigan's startup community, and her panelists Dawn Hines, Managing Partner at Aventura Investment Partners and CEO of Hines Industries, Inc.; Michael Koziara, Chair of the Angel Investment Review Committee at Michigan Capital Network; and Don Ufford, Member and Investor at Woodward Angels for a truly insightful discussion on how entrepreneurs can stand out to angel investors. Thank you to all who attended as well! It was a great evening. Mark your calendars for our next NEF forum meeting on July 25 (a week later in the month than our normal date), again at Ann Arbor SPARK. We will have a pitch pit competition that will be judged by Christina Fair, Co-Founder/COO of Hum and Founder/CEO of Reconnect; Mark Russell, Co-Founder and CEO of Cardware by CatalystXL; and Joseph Tenbusch, Investment Manager Corporate Venture Capital at Magna International.
