Meet Kandis! Kandis joined the New Haven team in 2020. Her organized and personable manner makes her a great addition to the admissions team! You will find she is both easy to talk too and gives great attention to detail in her work. Kandis earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Brigham Young University. She went on to explore various career paths including event planning, teaching, but deserves the most credit for raising four beautiful and active boys! Prior to coming to New Haven, Kandis worked for an educational consulting firm. Here she learned about the varieties of programs and education systems in place for adolescents. In working with families and professionals, Kandis developed a passion for helping youth further their education and strengthen their mental health. Many of the students that come to New Haven have felt a connection with animals in ways that they have not yet felt with people. Animals present the opportunity to simply connect with another living being in a raw, simple, and emotionally safe way. They are completely honest, and consistent, do not have other agendas in mind, and are masters at living in the moment. Meet Laura! Laura joined the Saratoga Springs campus in October 2016 and is the Administrative Assistant, and the Office Manager at the Saratoga Springs Campus. Laura is a huge proponent of the family and values based New Haven treatment program. She enjoys interacting with and watching the students and their families as they grow and progress on their journey in treatment. Laura brings an eclectic blend of education and work experience to New Haven. She graduated from BYU with a BA in Humanities – Pre Law, and a minor in Art History. Meet Carrie! Carrie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at Southern Utah University. While doing her undergraduate work, Carrie worked as a staff member at a residential center for teens and found her passion for working with adolescents. In this setting she learned that more successes are reached with adding to freedoms and making appropriate adjustments rather than using control to manage a situation. Carrie went on to complete her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Utah. Through the years, Carrie has gained specific expertise in working with adolescents that struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, and oppositional defiance. Carrie is certified in DBT and TF-CBT (Trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy) for adolescents and children, she is also trained in art therapy and sand tray. Carrie understands that therapy is more than just talking, it is experiencing. She helps her clients process hard emotions and events, through experiences, when they don’t feel ready to talk. Carrie believes that healing the emotions, the mind, and the soul leads to greater fulfillment in life.
