Learner variability is the norm not the exception. Teachers are tasked with affirming and leveraging individual strengths, creating multiple pathways to learning, promoting learner agency, and providing differentiated support for students. Every day. NTC's Optimal Learning Environment framework is grounded in the principles of Universal Design for Learning. NTC-supported coaches work with teachers to build bridges for each young person to access and engage in rigorous learning. Centering Students. Advancing Equity.
About us
New Teacher Center (NTC) is a national nonprofit organization. Our vision is that every student from preschool through high school, deserves an excellent and equitable education that empowers them to reach their full potential in classrooms, communities, and beyond. Our mission is to disrupt the predictability of educational inequities for systemically underserved students by accelerating educator effectiveness. Founded by teachers in 1998, NTC builds capacity within district partners to drive student learning, educator effectiveness, and leadership development. We do this by providing PreK-12 educators with evidence-based skills and supports needed to create optimal learning environments that accelerate students’ academic and social-emotional success, focusing specifically focusing on the whole-child.

Recruiting and retaining teachers continues to be a national priority, particularly in small and rural districts. There are practical approaches for supporting new teachers even when resources are limited, with a focus on coaching. Takeaways from our partnerships with CALVERT COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS and Talbot County Public Schools: + Use mentor observations that show teacher growth on district-identified priority practices + Enable teachers to self-report on their preparedness for named priorities to highlight growth and opportunity areas + Leverage storytelling to showcase new teacher confidence and build connectedness with teacher, mentor, and school leader testimonies Learn more: https://ow.ly/jVeX50SZq6Y

It is hard to show in these pictures all the greatness that happened with my BOLD team today. I am so grateful for this team. My heart is exploding knowing that they are putting in the right work to thrive as a team by knowing themselves and each other and using their student voice data to drive their Inquiry Cycles along with Efficacy and Agency. There was so much joy, collaboration, and trust happening that will carry over to their learners when they arrive next week. So looking forward to scaling our grant work this year with this team and their leaders. This work would not be happening without the support of New Teacher Center SWWC Service Cooperative

For instructional coaching to have the most impact within districts and schools, it is critical to have conversations with key decision-makers at the onset of implementation. This means goals, funding, and prioritization all relate back to the shared vision of improving teaching practices and student outcomes. Align these elements and instructional coaching… + effectively supports all educators + drives meaningful change + fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
