New York Angels is a member-led organization committed to finding, funding and mentoring great young companies from pitch through successful exit. Our 120+ members are entrepreneurs, CEOs, venture capitalists and business leaders who have founded, funded and built world-class companies. We come from a wide array of industry backgrounds and together create an extensive network of entrepreneurial support. We mentor and coach the entrepreneurs in whom we invest, serve on their boards, provide contacts and assist with team building, strategic planning and fundraising. The mission of New York Angels is to foster an engaged and smart New York City angel investment environment in an effort to enhance the opportunities for entrepreneurs to be financed and succeed through exit. We provide opportunities for our members to obtain outstanding financial returns by investing in early-stage companies and accelerating them to market leadership. We lead and participate in investments ranging from $100,000–$2,000,000, and have a large network of angel groups and venture capital firms with whom we syndicate to do rounds up to $3 million. New York Angels has been the leading seed investment organization in NYC since 2004, with members investing over $112 million into more than 270 exciting startup companies. Through their participation in New York Angels, members were the first investors in such startups as Pinterest and Comixology, and portfolio companies have been acquired by Google, Intel, CBS, Living Social and others.

Bittersweet day as today is my last day at CONMED Corporation There are many many people to thank in the Biorez, BioBrace, and Conmed journey, from our employees to our customers, investors, advisors, consultants, surgeons, service providers etc... THANK YOU all for being a part of this adventure with me. I am sharing a photo below of my first day at Soft Tissue Regeneration in February 2014. At the time we were attempting to replace tissue grafts for ACL reconstruction with a braided PLLA scaffold. The time since has been a wild journey, from shutting down STR, to founding Biorez in November 2016, to pivoting from ACL replacement to BioBrace in 2018, to our FDA approval and first case in May 2021, and then selling to Conmed in August 2022. Entrepreneurs have to be a little crazy to sit at a desk like that in New Haven with just a laptop and water bottle and think they can change the world, and yet, we did. To date, BioBrace has been implanted in about 10,000 people in 14 countries and in 45 unique clinical procedures; 39 months ago there were zero cases. BioBrace continues to demonstrate improved clinical outcomes for tendon and ligament repair by providing additional strength and healing. We are currently enrolling in 5 clinical trials from rotator cuff, ACL, MPFL, and total shoulder arthroplasty. I have personal friends and colleagues that have used the implant as a surgeon, and have received the implant as a patient. I will get a BioBrace in one second should I ever need one. We have 12 issued US patents and 17 peer-reviewed publications providing increasing levels of evidence in a variety of procedures. The cases and evidence are only increasing in time, and the innovators, early adopters and Biorez surgeon advisors should feel proud and validated. Tendon and ligament repairs benefit from improved healing and improved mechanical durability full stop and we aren't going back. Lastly, I am incredibly proud of the team that has driven this effort in New Haven and around the country and at Conmed. I will remain a consultant to my former colleagues and friends at Conmed, thank you for adopting all of us into your organization. I am excited for the future for Conmed and a proud shareholder.
