neXt Curve

Next week, I will be in Berlin to attend Lenovo Innovation World 2024 just ahead of IFA 2024. This is going to be an exciting event much like Computex 2024 just a couple of months ago and is a continuation of the AI PC and Copilot+ PC saga that has unfolded over the past year. The AI PC race is heating up and Lenovo is innovating on top of a fast-expanding bench of NPU-armed PC processors. Lenovo launched some of the first CoPilot+PCs in June with their Yoga Slim 7x and ThinkPad 14s Gen 6. Intel kicked the AI PC rally introducing Core Ultra at the end of last year. Now we have Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Series of AI PC SOCs debuting with extreme fanfare at Microsoft Build 2024, and AMD's AI 300 (their newest addition to their AI PC-ish line up since introducing the Ryzen 7040 series and Ryzen AI engine). The big boy on the block, Intel, is poised to bring their next generation of AI PC processor with Lunar Lake. AMD recently announced their intent to acquire ZT Systems, a data center systems integrator and ODM based in Secaucus, NJ for $4.9 billion. On the surface, the deal looks like a curious one. Jack Gold, Principal Analyst at J.Gold Associates and tech industry colleague recently posted his thoughts on the nature, the benefits, and the implications of the acquisition.
