"Above-average temperatures continued across most of the western and eastern parts of the United States during July, although the middle of the nation did get a respite from the intense heat. Rainfall during the month was generally above average in parts of the central part of the nation (consistent with the below-average temperatures) and also along the Gulf Coast and much of the Southeast." https://lnkd.in/eWBHWJxn

Exciting news for our ocean champions! We’re thrilled to announce that the eeBLUE Young Changemakers Fellowship is back for another year of inspiring action. With guidance from NOAA Office of Education and support from North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE), our 15 selected students from 13 states and U.S. territories—from Guam to New York—will take on pressing issues like microplastics and climate and environmental justice. They’ll also share their insights with NOAA, helping to shape the future of ocean and environmental policy. This is only the second class of Young Changemakers, and they’re already making waves for future fellows to follow. And check out our new page, noaa.gov/twisters to find out: What’s it like to be an actual storm chaser? Can a tornado really catch fire? Are twin tornadoes possible? Is it possible to “tame a tornado”? Who actually studies these storms? (We’ll give you a hint for that last one… we do!) Pictured: Characters from the movie Twisters marvel at the awesome power of violent tornadoes as they strike across Oklahoma in a promotional poster for the movie.
