🚀 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞: 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 🚀 After 2 years of hard work from many different teams, we went live with Epic Beaker LIS at MaineHealth and NorDx! Beaker is a big step forward for our strategy of “one patient one record” and making “our communities the healthiest in America”! 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: •   Implemented Epic Beaker for 10+ hospitals / in patient locations, a core laboratory, and countless ambulatory clinics with A++ support from Healthlink Advisors, CTG, ALKU, and Nordic Global •   Partnered with XiFin, Inc. and Epic for first of kind extract of images from OnBase and HL7 based billing feed •   Collaborated with ORCHARDSOFT CORPORATION (ORCHARD SOFTWARE CORPORATION) on yet another first of kind Master Patient Index solution, enabling our regional lab business to integrate with Epic •   Interfaced 120+ instruments with the assistance of Roche and Data Innovations LLC •   Replaced a homegrown application with Lifepoint Informatics orders/results/label printing with 197 installs. •   Implemented new positive patient identification solution for our phlebotomists using Apple Iphones and wireless printers. They love it! •   Configured, touched, and/or installed over 1,000 pieces of hardware 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝟑 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 •   The biggest line item missing in our budget was the emotional cost of a project this size. 2 years of stress adds up, and it is important to find healthy outlets. •   Focus on both content AND process. Knowing how to execute is just as important as knowing what to do. •   Don’t assume I am communicating clearly. Check in for understanding and find other ways to explain a problem, idea, or solution. Always be curious. We couldn't have achieved this milestone without the incredible dedication and collaboration of our teams. Their unwavering commitment to excellence and ability to adapt in the face of challenges were truly inspiring!

“It’s Pride month and this year’s theme, “For Your Health, Be Yourself”, highlights MaineHealth’s commitment to understanding and addressing health disparities in the LGBTQ+ community and encourages LGBTQ+ care team members and the community to bring their authentic selves to every interaction!” Pride Month is celebrated annually in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots, an uprising that occurred in response to a police raid on a gay club in New York City. Today, the month is a time to celebrate the diverse array of sexual and gender identities that make up the LGBTQ+ community, and also to celebrate the joy that can be found in living authentically.

What is National Cytotechnology Day (NCD)? The idea for NCD was first entertained and pursued at the ASCT Interim meeting in Atlanta, Georgia in 1984 by ASCT member Bruce Buschmann. History was made the following year in Philadelphia, PA when the week of May 12-18, 1985 became the first ever National Cytotechnology Week. The presentation of the proclamation, given by then Mayor of Philadelphia, W. Wilson Goode, was attended by Past ASCT President, Shirley Greening. Many local celebrations, mayoral and gubernatorial proclamations followed as NCD events grew in popularity. To commemorate NCD, Dr. George Papanicolaou's contributions to the field of medicine, May 13 - his birthday - has been designated National Cytotechnology Day (NCD). In addition to celebrating the important work of Dr. George Papanicolaou, NCD has been utilized as a means to promote the importance of the Pap test in women's health and the contributions of cytotechnologists to the health care field. #nordxnow #joinourteam
