I loooooove my business ... but I never wanted to end up in a cutthroat, highly competitive industry. And if you feel the same, I have good news for you. If you don't want to "compete" with your competitors ... you can *collaborate* with them instead! This cadre of event geniuses is a pure vein of brilliance, and a source of so much good for me personally, and for my company Synchronicity Events. You may already know them, but just to make sure, you are looking at the smiling faces of Sasha Summer Cousineau, Mary Davidson, Gazala Uradnik, yours truly, and Deci Evans. We are the owners of Revel Rouser Events, EP Events LLC, GFS Events, Synchronicity Events of course, and Kind + Company Events. We team up and connect many, many times each year to refer clients to each other, back each other up with advice on tricky contracting situations, share knowledge and resources on "what's working now", and do our darnedest to unify and serve the nonprofit sector with expert professional event planning services. Although we each own a different company and serve a similar client base, our goal and purpose is really the same: to elevate the outcomes for all nonprofit events everywhere. This photo is from our appearance this week at Northwest Event Show, where we created a panel discussion and a skills workshop for nonprofits planning events (and the vendors who partner with them). On reflection, our panel discussion was really just an unveiling of the ongoing conversation that the five of us are in all the time! Thanks to everyone who came to listen and join the discussion, it was 🔥 And, while you're reading, I want to also share that this collaborative energy is one of the things that will keep me in the events industry forever. If you aren't in the biz, you might not realize us #eventprofs are always in each other's business ... in a good way! I know of catering companies who call in reinforcements of chefs and servers from another company to cover a large job, A/V groups who pull inventory from each other constantly, not to mention the constant dance between designers and technicians to make our clients' event dreams come true. The Northwest Event Show was a great reminder of that collective, generative spirit ... I feel so fortunate to be a part of it.
