🏭 Polluting industries are highly concentrated in poorer regions. In Europe, the proportion of employment in polluting jobs can be three times higher in the most exposed regions than in those least exposed. 💼 The Greater Copenhagen region has evolved into a powerhouse, with a regional GDP exceeding €200 billion—on par with Stockholm and higher than Berlin, Oslo, and Hamburg. This remarkable growth has been driven by cross-border collaboration, particularly between Sweden and Denmark, anchored by the Öresund Bridge. But realising the full potential of this thriving region isn’t without its challenges, key hurdles include: 🟢 Transportation Integration: Aligning public transportation systems between Denmark and Sweden. 🟢 Joint infrastructure planning: With the upcoming Fehmarn belt tunnel linking Denmark to Germany, joint planning is essential to manage increased freight traffic and support sustainable growth. 🟢 Regulatory Alignment: Differences in labor laws, tax regulations, and pension systems create unnecessary complications for workers and employers on both sides of the border.
