The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Office of Energy Justice and Equity is leading FIVE in-person informational webinars on the Regional Energy Democracy Initiative (REDI) NEXT WEEK throughout the Gulf Coast. REDI is a new $5 million technical assistance and capacity building program that will fund regional and local nonprofits, workforce and labor organizations, legal support entities, economic development entities, academic institutions that serve underrepresented populations, or other organizations that will be able to help communities meaningfully engage in the development and implementation of community benefits associated with DOE-funded projects in the Gulf Coast region of Texas and Louisiana. U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) continues to invest in a clean energy workforce by awarding its first grant under the Career Skills Training (CST) Program. Today, DOE announced that the International Finishing Trades Institute (iFTI), the training arm of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT), and its industry partners was selected to receive $1,060,169 to extend professional glazing curriculum and certification opportunities to pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, and journey worker upskilling programs and K12 career academies. Clean energy training is coming to central training centers in Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and California! Career Skills Training Program promotes collaboration between labor organizations and industry to attract, train, and employ underrepresented individuals, enhance existing programs for replication, and create a diverse, skilled, and credentialed workforce positioned to deploy clean energy technologies.
